We're allowed to have weapons and technically the constitution and declaration of independence requires the people to have more arms than the police and military. The police are not supposed to be armed like the military it violates the standing army clause in the constitution

2nd amendment doesn't say shit about having to have a license for your right to bear arms. Murdock v. Pennsylvania, 319 US 105 P.5 The state may not convert a secured liberty into a privilege, and issue a license and fee for it.
