Feels like there’s no clear future for cars in India ethanol issues, weak EV infrastructure, and pressure whenever someone speaks the truth! Is this really true that in Gurgaon and Delhi, EV chargers are being removed from basements? If yes, then this raises some serious concerns. Firstly, apartment residents already struggle with dedicated charging access, and removing basement chargers would make EV ownership even harder for the middle class. Secondly, with Indian summers touching nearly 50°C, won't public chargers and systems start overheating, tripping, or slowing down? That's another real-world concern no one talks about enough. And thirdly, what happens during a medical emergency at night if your only primary vehicle is an EV and it's stuck waiting in long society charging queues or left uncharged because chargers are limited? At this point, it genuinely feels like EVs are slowly becoming more practical for the rich class people with independent homes and multiple cars, where the EV is more of an optional "environment-friendly" lifestyle statement rather than a dependable primary vehicle for the middle class.

The Department of Transportation led by Pete Buttigieg is being mocked for the massive failure. For comparison, a Tesla Supercharger costs less than $50,000 per charger meaning the company could build a 10-stall Supercharger station for less than $500,000 (Electrek). The EV charging station plan was written in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and allocated $7.5B for EV charging, with $5B dedicated to building a charging network along US highways. During a previous interview on CBS News, Buttigieg tried defending the disaster, saying it would take a while to hit their goal of 500,000 chargers.

Owning an EV as your only car might come with some headaches in Ludhiana, considering the power situation here and certain warranty clauses. I plugged the Creta EV in for charging this evening, but the power went out immediately due to the weather. Now that it’s back, the voltage is fluctuating across all phases, so it looks like I’ll have to charge it tomorrow once everything is fully stable again. This is one of the top RERA & GLADA approved colonies on Southern Bypass. Excellent technology, but the infrastructure still has a long way to go.
