The man turned away because the daughter was acting out to get his attention. By him turning away, it deprived her of that attention she wanted. It's also why the mom disciplined her. Him doing it would be giving her attention ... basically, the couple was coached.

Discipline and punishment are 2 completely different things, and work exceptionally well when used in conjunction with each other. There was no discipline here, only punishment. The behavior will remain because there is no fear of misbehaving.

That's nice, but it's weird how this "time out" couple has a kid who will throw objects at her dad's face. (Not a toddler, I know they throw anything anywhere, this was deliberate.) That shows that the child is out of control.
