Exciting update in drone delivery from Amazon: Prime Air is now expanding its selection to include popular electronics with lithium-ion batteries, like phones, AirTags, and even grilling thermometers. Customers who are in eligible areas for drone delivery in Texas and Arizona can now receive those items from order to doorstep in just 60 minutes or less, thanks to Prime Air’s new MK30 drone. This is a big milestone toward our goal of delivering 500 million packages by drone globally by the end of the decade.

NEW: Florida man who shot at a Walmart delivery drone over his home and joked with officers that he “can’t breathe,” ordered to pay the retail chain $5000. New Jersey could use this guy right now. Walmart employees say they were performing a mock delivery with the drone when a pop rang out. The drone then raced back to the facility. 72-year-old Dennis Winn says he shot at the drone with his 9mm after it flew over his property. The Lake County Sheriff's Office says they found a bullet hole in the payload the drone was carrying. Winn will avoid jail time as long as he is not charged with any other crimes within six months.

VIDEO | Residents of high-rise apartments in Gurugram are pleasantly surprised to see relatively faster delivery of some of their e-commerce orders these days. All this is happening due to Skey Air, a delivery solution provider, which has deployed drones to carry packages from its warehouse to the delivery point. "Earlier the delivery time of items like clothing, was 24 to 36 hours. Ever since they have ventured into delivery of food items, we get them in 1-1.30 hours. Sometimes even in 15 minutes. When we asked the delivery person about this, he said that now the delivery is being done via drones. This grew our excitement and we too wanted to see how drone delivery takes place," says Parminder Purohit, a local resident.

I can confirm that Walmart is now using drones to deliver items directly to front yards here in North Carolina. Currently they are only available with certain Walmart locations and you need to live within 6-8 miles a store that offers drone delivery. The order has to be 2.1 lbs or less. Pretty wild stuff...

This is the story of an innovation that enables life-saving vaccine deliveries to those who need them most. Reaching remote communities isn’t easy, but with a national drone delivery service, healthcare workers can order—and receive—the vaccines communities need in minutes.

🚨Imagine the pressure on these gig workers to pack and deliver groceries within minutes. Firstly, 10-minute delivery should not exist. If it does, the government should set a minimum delivery charge that the customer directly pays for the delivery partners. The home delivery of food and groceries within minutes is a luxury and customer should pay a fair amount for it directly to the delivery partners. The government should intervene in this and protect these poor people from being exploited by these companies. VC: Nishu Tiwari Youtube Channel

New Russian Russian FPV drone with a coil of thin fiber optic cable over 10 kilometers long. The drone transmits digital, real-time video over a 10.5km spool of fiber-optic cable. This kind of drone is almost impossible to stop with EW.

🦔Amazon's Prime delivery drones, now deployed across multiple US cities at $4.99 per delivery, drop packages from 10 feet in the air onto whatever surface is below. A teacher who ordered a bottle of syrup to test fragile deliveries watched the drone deposit it directly onto concrete, smashing it. Videos from Nashville show the same delivery method. Amazon's drones maintain a fixed 10-foot hover height before releasing packages, which then free-fall to the ground. The drone's propellers also disturb the surrounding area on descent. My Take Amazon has invested billions in drone delivery infrastructure and the pitch has always been speed and convenience as genuine improvements over traditional delivery. Dropping packages from 10 feet onto concrete is not a delivery innovation. It's a trebuchet with a Prime logo. The fragile item problem alone eliminates a significant portion of what people actually order, including wine, glassware, electronics, and anything in a glass jar, which covers a substantial chunk of Amazon's catalog. The deeper question is whether this technology is being deployed because it's ready or because Amazon needs to demonstrate progress on the billions already committed to it. Every video like this one becomes a public test of a product that isn't finished, in neighborhoods where the company needs goodwill to maintain operating permissions. The $4.99 fee also doesn't cover the actual cost of drone delivery at current scale, which means Amazon is subsidizing a service that breaks your syrup. I'd want to see the unit economics on this before calling it a viable business. Hedgie🤗

Amazon will do drone delivery on millions of items as fast as 30 minutes across 500 cities in the US by end 2026. Bezos called it with that original demo on 60 Minutes back in 2013: "I know this looks like science fiction. It's not. This is early. Still years away...we can do half hour delivery and carry objects up to 5lbs, which covers 86% of the items we deliver.”

Drones are changing the course of the war in Ukraine. That’s why today the UK is boosting its delivery of drones to the frontline - upping our commitment from £200m to £325m. By doing so we will get over 10,000 new drones to Ukraine and remain Ukraine’s largest drone supplier.
