If we produce things that we can make efficiently and then import (without the excessive tariffs) on things we can't, then the cost of food would come down significantly. Jamaicans pay some of the highest costs for food around the globe when compared to income. We need a change.

Disinformation! It’s a common misconception that Jamaica is more expensive than every other country, but this view often overlooks key details. Comparing prices from high-end supermarkets that primarily cater to tourists and the upper class in areas like Montego Bay doesn’t reflect the true cost of living for the general Jamaican population. Many such stores are located in prime tourist zones and are priced accordingly, targeting short-term visitors and affluent locals. To generalize these prices as standard across Jamaica misrepresents the situation, as most Jamaicans shop at more affordable locations that serve the broader community with everyday prices. The reality, price variations in Jamaica, much like in other countries, depend largely on location, target clientele, and economic conditions specific to each area. So using tourist-area prices as a blanket standard for the entire country is misleading and can create a skewed perception of the true cost of living in Jamaica.

If you live in the country many jamaicans grow there own food. Its not enough to completely replace the need for a supermarket but it helps. Those who live in the city. No clue.
