This is the Sacramento doom loop: make everything insanely expensive, then jack up the minimum wage and taxes because people can’t afford to live — which just makes everything EVEN MORE expensive. Official “low income” is now $100k. Working people lose the most. Enough is Enough.

Oh fantastic, California’s officially declared that if you make a hundred grand a year you’re basically a peasant. Congrats everyone, the American Dream is now “low-income housing applicant.” They raise the minimum wage so the barista can afford rent, then the rent goes up because the landlord has to pay the higher wage, then they raise taxes to “help” the poor, then everything costs more, then they raise the minimum wage again… it’s like a hamster wheel designed by Satan and run by consultants from Sacramento. Steve’s right, it’s a doom loop. At this point the only people who can afford to live in California are the ones writing the laws and the ones selling the laws. Everyone else is just cosplaying as middle class while eating Top Ramen in a $3,200 studio. Beautiful system. Really working.

When $100k counts as low income, the paycheck isn't the problem. The people setting the prices are. Sacramento breaks the market, then sells you the patch and calls it help.

I received unemployment insurance in 2009, it was about $1800 a month. I checked how much it pays now, and its STILL 1800 a month! After 17 years of higher taxes, they haven't raised unemployment ins AT ALL! That's how much Democrats care about working people!

The cost of eating an occasional meal in a restaurant has become crazy. They raised the base wage (before tips) of servers. The restaurants had to raise menu prices to pay their servers. Now a meal costs 30-40% higher than it used to, and we’re expected to tip 20% on top of that.

When I was hired, minimum wage was $8/hr, and now McD’s pays a kid $22/hr. The increases for insurance and taxes have absorbed any possible raises I’ve had; my value has gone down as inflation drives costs up.

I just paid my car registration...10 year old car $230 a year. Missed the due date so they tacked on an additional $95. Paid at a "self serve" DMV kiosk, a 1.95% service fee. My 1993 truck tags are due, $245 plus a $150 smog check. STOP THE MADNESS...VOTE STEVE HILTON
