This is the same river this administration tried to use as propaganda through Nzema Updates, which bloggers pushed to create the impression that NAIMOS is fighting against illegal mining and to placate our anger. The first video was posted just two days ago, while the second which was pushed... by bloggers was posted on September 8. Yet the condition of the river remains the same. Residents in the area claim that the sea sometimes mixes with the river which temporarily changes the color of the water. What is also interesting is that both past and present governments keep using this exact spot, where the Ankobra River meets the sea, to show that their measures against illegal mining are working. We need measurable metrics so that how we measure the progress in the fight is not reduced to the color of our waterbodies. The way we protect politicians over here is really sad. They do nothing about the problems surrounding us but are quick to pump money to some few people to push a narrative that they're doing something 😞

Exactly what I said when that video popped up. It was the sea mixing with the river and I’m sure the river was blocked liked it happened sometime ago.
