The Pygmalion Effect is a behavioral phenomenon in which the level of expectations placed on a subject impact their level of performance: High expectations lead to high performance. Low expectations lead to low performance. We all will have expectations about how life is supposed to be and how people are supposed to be. But we can’t control the way that others act or whether they meet your expectations. So when we hold on to those expectations and they’re not met we create pain. What we can control is how we respond.
