This woman is being roasted for the idea that if she’s asked out on a date, that it’s the man’s job to pay for her food. If he asks her out for drinks and she goes, is he automatically responsible for feeding her as well? Is it the idea of spending her own money that she’s opposed to? Even if he just wants drinks and conversation, would it be that bad for her to pay for a snack, she could even extend it further by offering to buy him something to eat too, that would make for a good impression. So if you are out for drinks, are you going to starve if the other person doesn’t buy it for you or are you secure enough to get something for yourself?

This policy is not sustainable. You can't provide free everything for everybody. I understand why he's putting this out there. It's the mantra for his campaign. The whole idea of a mayoral election is you say anything you can to get elected and then you explain why you can't deliver after you're the mayor.
