This is unbelievable. Catholics showing reverence are ignored. What is going on here?

You can't tell from this video whether they received communion already and just knelt to pray. Also, the liturgy doesn't belong to us, we receive it as a gift and don't get to dictate our terms to the church.

This is Our Lady of Grace in Greensboro, NC (my parish) in the Diocese of Charlotte. Bishop Martin's cruel and needless edict to discontinue the use of altar rails and kneelers to receive Communion is being enforced. This, of course, is the same Bishop Martin who ripped our parish TLMs from us and exiled us to a small, relatively isolated chapel far from our home churches. He's now imposing his personal preferences for how Communion "ought" to be run, in the name of "unity." We still have the right to receive on the tongue while kneeling, but without the use of altar rails it's become extremely difficult (as I said, cruel). I was not at this particular Mass that day, but at the one I attended the priest and deacon stood just outside the altar gate, each assisted by an altar boy holding a communion plate. For those of us who chose to kneel and receive on the tongue, the altar server gave us a subtle hand to help us get back up. I'm not sure if they gave Communion to those few people who actually went the rail. Several priests in the diocese sent a letter to Rome to see if Bishop Martin is even permitted to do these things, considering this impedes our right to reception on the tongue while kneeling. Apparently Rome has acknowledged that they received the letter and will look into the matter, so hopefully they rein in Martin's evil actions. Please pray for us.

They intentionally didn't go to the correct place to receive it like everyone else did. They aren't special.

It appears they are departing from the reasonable instructions of their pastors, in which case, they are not showing reverence, and are being unnecessarily contentious. Don't talk about submitting to Rome, if you can't even submit to your local priest and bishop.

You're correct. kneeling at the rail is still an acceptable form of receiving the Eucharist and they should not have been denied it.

The bishop who did this needs to be removed. I'm not a latin Mass Catholic, but I am a cradle catholic. This bishop turning away worshipful parishoners is damaging catholics across the nation.

This is very normal. The priest didn't ignore them. They wish to receive communion kneeling at the rail so the priest will distribute communion to them at the end. Several people do this in our parish and there is one family in our parish who do this and they receive a different host. Maybe they receive gluten free host, not sure. But this is normal practice.

I get your point and personally receive communion kneeling. However, they are intentionally not standing in line like everyone else. Indeed it's more reverent to use the altar rail. But that's not where the priest is. They are seemingly protesting.

The priest is opposing Canon Law. The Church’s current discipline is found in the instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum (Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, 2004): Laity may receive kneeling, and they must not be denied Communion Redemptionis Sacramentum teaches: “Hence, any baptized Catholic who is not prevented by law must be admitted to Holy Communion. Therefore, it is not licit to deny Holy Communion to any of Christ’s faithful solely on the grounds, for example, that the person wishes to receive the Eucharist kneeling or standing.” Kneeling/standing is normally determined by the Bishops, but denial is forbidden. It also states the general norm on posture: “The faithful should receive Communion kneeling or standing, as the Conference of Bishops will have determined …” But even with that norm in place, Redemptionis Sacramentum explicitly forbids denying Communion only because someone wants to receive kneeling/standing.

Try kneeling in front of the Bishop or priest. Sheesh. If you’re ignored then, then I’ll listen to your complaint. Right now I see sanctimonious Pharisees.

Why didn't they kneel in front of the priest distributing communion instead? This seems a bit much, especially if they never use the communion rail.

It's unusual to see people kneel like this for Communion. I'm guessing that there was just confusion and miscommunication. Who was filming and why? Was this meant to be a gotcha moment?

In my Parish, San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome. If I were to do this, the clergy and consecrated would think I was praying as I am not in the line to receive Christ.

That is silly, he wasn't even behind the railing, this looks more of a call for attention than reverence towards Jesus, they could've kneeled on the ground in front of the bishop

I haven't been to church in many years but I can see they aren't waiting in line, you kind of sound like a crypto jew pretending to be catholic if you don't know that much. Who farms engagement by putting down their own religion like this?

@JackPosobiec Who records video of random people receiving HC with their iphone dring Mass? No one. This looks like they had arrange for someone to video them to make the priest look bad (where he can't even see what's going on behind his own back). This video is a setup IMO.

Could be any number of things. Why was someone setup to film this? Maybe they aren’t Catholic and the priest knows they aren’t? Maybe their children aren’t baptized? Maybe they already had communion? Maybe been to confession and refused penance and didn’t receive absolution?

If I want Communion I join the queue. I don't turn my back on the Priest. How was the Priest to know they were waiting for Communion or simply praying?

Go to traditional mass Communion kneeling and on tongue

The people of that diocese need to STOP giving to the Bishop's Appeal. Bankrupt that diocese!
