According to prosecutors, Adelson orchestrated a plot to take out her ex-son-in-law Daniel Markel who was in a custody battle with her daughter, Wendi Adelson. The grandma was the 5th person put on trial for the m*rder for hire plot. “At trial, prosecutors had painted Donna Adelson as the calculated and controlling matriarch of an affluent South Florida family with the means and motive to orchestrate the k*lling of the ex-son-in-law she hated,” CNN reported. “Charles Adelson is serving a life sentence, as is his ex-girlfriend Katherine Magbanua. Prosecutors said Magbanua served as the go-between for the two men … Sigfredo Garcia, who was sentenced to life in prison, and Luis Rivera, who is serving a 19-year sentence after cooperating with the state.” Markel was a “prominent legal scholar” at Florida State University. He was shot in his driveway in July of 2014 and passed away 14 hours later at the hospital.
