This is when a Bernama journalist asked a relevant, important question about what happens if Brent Crude hits USD 200/barrel & what happens beyond May. She got gaslit by the Minister. Stop doing that. Answer as best as you can with the facts. Source: Astro Awani, PC 13/3/2026

Nope, I don’t agree. The Finance Minister didn’t gaslight. He addressed it directly—stock is sufficient till May. Don’t speculate. Efforts are ongoing to secure supply from other sources. As rakyat, don’t take this lightly, but also stop being kiasu.

@meinmokhtar Abang ada masalah pemahaman Bahasa Melayu ke? Which part is gaslighting? Amir answered clearly, no speculation. If you don’t understand Malay, the least you can do is Google Translate, my 2 kupang

@MuniraMustaffa He was not gas lighting anyone. He said don’t speculate. Gov have intervention plan, Petronas is sourcing other suppliers. Don’t panic, Allah is the sustenance.

I don’t see anything wrong with the answer. The minister answered the question well. Please stop speculating

@pedoqpop I think it was a decent answer. Tbh nobody knows what the situation is going to be 2 months from now. They only can operate with what they know. We are a small and insignificant country. As long they keep the supply going even for a slightly increased price its still a win.

you say it best, when you say nothing at all. i wonder if they have been better briefed in the last 10 days? they have to say something tomorrow, but do they say it with sense, or just grandstanding?

ok je jawapan dia.. they're working on getting more supplies so they would last beyond may.

Whenever they don't have an answer or know what to say, they always said "Don't speculate", don't this, don't that, and they always shoot the messenger or insult the person asking.

Awak pun sama bodoh dgn wartawan tu. Kan minister dah ckp Jgn speculate with propaganda. Yg penting government tgh membantu kurangkan kenaikan barang makanan, kalau inflation terjadi , lagi parah. Dia ckp minyak cukup sampai mei, tgh usaha Cara lain mcm ev car, wfh. Jgn speculate.

how can you not speculate when a war is happening? the answer didnt help at all. should be issuing warning to rakyat to start spending wisely and be prepared for a possibility of global recession.

so the Minister was cautious about providing specific strategy insights to manage 200/barrel oil price. he didnt gaslight. he was right all along. speculating creates unnecessary panic; oil futures are going nuts. hes FIN Minister 2 man - every word he says ripples the economy.

No. He didn't gaslight. Cth mudah, klu hr ni ko kn buang keje, ko cuma ada duit savings smpi bulan Mei. Lepas tu? Obviously start esok ko kn cari kerja lain supaya ada duit selepas May. Which is what he said the gov. would do. Ko mmg lahir bodoh ke?

We don't buy CRUDE load from the North Sea. What happens when our Six refiners can't get crude at whatever price?
