I’m rewatching the 1987 All-Star Game, and one thing I quickly noticed is how much every player really CARES and is giving it their ALL. Elbows being thrown by Barkley to protect the ball, guys crashing the boards and blocking shots. What an era of hoops. NBA players used to take pride in this game. 🔥

Senators Cory Booker and Maria Cantwell, two senior Democrats, have been talking over each other on the Senate floor about a college sports bill, and it's HILARIOUS. Booker, on his own colleague: “I have reverence and respect for her.” “She’s an extraordinary legislator.” Same guy, same bill, talking about the SAME WOMAN and her stance just a few seconds later: “outrageous.” College kids can transfer “willy-nilly.” Coaches don’t have to disclose their side deals... Why are you treating the college kids different than you’re treating the coaches if it’s all about the money?” They can’t even hide the knife. They just say “respect” first so it films better.

There's no AP credit available for shop classes, so lots of kids have to give up something they're really good at to keep their college applications competitive. I got an amendment included in the LHHSE Appropriations bill to expand options for college credit for technical classes like welding and woodworking, and I'll continue engaging with the Dept. of Education to keep the ball rolling.

Cool video capturing how computer vision can accurately analyze a random basketball game. Some stuff to notice: 1) This is a random court, not one it was trained on. 2) The camera is moving, meaning the model has to calibrate where all the lines are accordingly. 3) It detects 10 players (plus the bench) and the refs and the ball and the hoops accurately. 4) There are multiple hoops in the frame (picking the right one is important!) 5) 2-d homography shows where they are from a top down view.

Guess the NCAA wants to take away the fun and creativity of the game on Special Teams. Special Teams Coordinators and Head Coaches spend diligent time understanding the rules. Why eliminate this part of the game? Doesn’t the NCAA have bigger problems to solve currently like NIL and transfer portal? When you have a 61-1 vote against the new rule listen to the coaches who coach the game. The same coaches that warned you about NIL and transfer portal.
