This is why Spotify sucks now. While Spotify execs are cashing out from streaming, your favorite artists are struggling to earn a living. It’s killing the music industry.

first get a monopol and then abuse your power as a monopol

They’re paying themselves that much?! I thought the company wasn’t even profitable.

this video doesn't even mention the worst part: Spotify straight up decided to not pay for streams unless songs hit a certain popularity levels the company is also trying to do music and podcasts at the same time which is just a bad idea the CEO invests in weapons companies too

They didn’t earn $345 mil, they collected and received

@TheMcKenziest Apropos of nothing, but she’s right about the algorithms, on pretty much all platforms. All this impressive AI emerging and yet music streaming app just go right back to the same obvious stuff I’ve listened multiple times before.

This sounds like every industry.

The private equity model: retard access to a thing that people want/need, kill off the old (perfectly fine) access, divert the benefit ($) that used to go to the creator of the thing to yourself, and then cash out before it burns down. See: healthcare, music, TV, publishing...

These business models depend on us believing we get more convenience and access at lower cost by installing these profit sucking SV middle men (disrupt bs). DoorDash, Spotify, Uber. Except everything is less convenient, more costly and now we are losing cultural artifacts

"this is why streaming sucks now" "is the streaming model sustainable?" counterpoint, streaming always sucked, and was by design always unsustainable
