That's my old unit. 3rd US Infantry, The Old Guard. Even though we are very professional, we still are human, we still cried at every funeral.

The hardest thing I've ever done in the Army, while in that unit, was give a folded flag to my best friend's mother. We were both 18. We stand for the flag to honor our country, to honor those who gave all, and to honor the families left behind, often to suffer in silence.

This is why we respect our flag and dont burn it.
