i have some questions

extremely disappointed in this. Will not be switching to meld now. I will stay on OBS. Siding with gen ai was definitely not it. There could have been actual developers and designers hired for this. So i am disappointed.

I'm genuinely curious. I've really adored y'all, and this is a bit disappointing to see, so I think it's really important all of these concerns people rightfully have be addressed wholeheartedly, and not with a vague transparency page. "A cozy, lo-fi BRB screen with animated rain..." along with several other image-adjacent prompts show up on the front page of Meld Spark. That's... concerning!! You say in your transparency page it can only use what you upload, and yet you also state it can create full widgets including the art in your marketing for it, as well as on the primary page as seen below. If this is not GenAI, then where exactly is it pulling its "custom" images from? If it's different for every prompt (and prompting something to create for you is still GenAI, whether it's text, code, image, or animation) then that insinuates it's either generating it or taking from somewhere. If it isn't ethically sourced from its own library, that makes the prompt even worse. :/ This is coming from a place as someone who has genuinely adored the team at Meld, as well as Tiff just as a creator. Even on the transparency page, these images that are definitely generated are art, so where are they coming from if there is no GenAI art prompt layered within the widget code prompt? Even if it's hosted in a dedicated cloud, I fear this isn't a very good look when we have the topic of not taking work from genuine coders (which is also an art, as someone who's just spent thousands on a full 2.0 model debut and all of its assets) who are just as valid as every other artist out there. I mean this in the nicest way possible as someone who really wanted to see Meld do amazing things, but this is pretty blatantly GenAI no matter how you cut it, and it feels disingenuous to say that it isn't.

Disgusting. Absolute worst thing to ever be released and will be telling people never to use your products. Thanks for making it easy to stay on OBS.

You know developers/designers stream too, And offer their services in many easy to find places… right? You can pretend to respect artists as much as you’d like but developing stream widgets and beyond is just as much of an art.

excited for you all to experience this! it is one of the most magical creativity unlocks i've ever experienced. it brings entirely new ways to engage and interact with chat and we've seen viewers and streamers doing wildly creative things so far.

Didn't you guys do an anti AI bit recently? Only to do this? As a user I'm disappointed in the use of AI here.

So we're replacing talented stream design artists and programmers now? Oof... 🫠 Really wanted to give Meld Studio a chance, but now I'll stay with OBS.

Integrating AI into your growing streaming software when AI is making computing unaffordable was about the dumbest possible move...

@LilibeanVT then how do any of these overlays come into existence? is there a database of art spark is pulling from to manipulate into overlays?

Imma be honest, this is not it. The hype? It's a bunch of slop. Innovative? Not even.

Is spark using a datacenter to process these AI requests? Disappointing news to see GenAI, even if it's just code. Me generating a starting soon screen would mean that generates electricity at a datacenter and thus causes someone random home owners electric bill to go up.

I was really looking forward to trying the switch to meld as soon as custom stinger transitions were made available but after seeing this im sticking with obs... way to go replacing the talented artists and programmers out there that have put in so much work 🤦🏽‍♀️

People complaining about AI are completely missing the point. This is the future of innovation and tools development. I think this is a great step forward!

Hate to be that guy Nah, I love to be that guy lmao But if AI is your only way of being creative, then you need to find some other way to be creative. Quick shout to @shindags, cuz that guy does stuff similar and more impressive without AI Just sheer intelligence and creativity

Well, I was interested in trying out Meld, but genAI is not something I want to be in anyway supportive of. I hope there's someone there who recognises this was a poor decision. This is not the way forward.

I don't think this is the flex you think it js. You couldn't fix my audio issues for whatever reason and I'm very against using AI like this. 5 disappointed dad looks out of 5.

After Effects, Nuke and Mocha have been generating these types of graphics for over 30 years and also LIVE broadcast news packages have used this technology for 30 years via “CODE NOT ART” before most of you ever born… before Gen AI… I know this because I was generating graphics with code as an ACTION SCRIPT DEVELOPER from my teenage years before many of you were ever born and was publishing Flash Animation on NewGrounds before you could pronounce the letter “A” or “I”. You literally haven’t need art references or training models or “machine learning” to generate graphics and could purely do it with code and digital inputs or expressions since the early 90s… We literally still do this NOW with HTML5… 🤦🏾‍♂️ There are any number of programming and scripting languages that have been able to generate real-time graphics and animated text and parallax backgrounds for the last 20 years… It’s not even new technology 🤦🏾‍♂️ It’s just no longer for newsrooms at CNN or nerds from the 90s. ITS NOT STEALING A SINGLE DAMNED THING. All you claim to understand the intersection between art and tech but don’t even understand the history of it and don’t even know about things like ActionScript, have never written expressions for After Effects or never were trained on software that couldn’t crack or pirate or buy a subscription… or that wasn’t open source 🤦🏾‍♂️ You never literally even heard of an FFMPEG server before. Or did node based roto-scoping. But it also never occurred to you to ask how any of it works…
