@chambleebrandel Designing a golf course to play fast & firm without the option to play the ground game is a head scratcher. But that’s what Pete Dye does. Playing @TPCSawgrass is like going into a fist-fight with one hand tied behind your back.

With the help of a small but experienced crew, Jeff and his team are able to efficiently keep the course playing as close to the firm-and-fast ideal the architects envisioned almost 25 years ago. It seems like the grass is really full. It’s always in good condition here but it seems like there’s just a little bit more grass. It’s just a little bit fuller and there’s no rain in the forecast so they can really do whatever they want. It’ll be firm and fast, I would assume.” He went on to talk about strategy in the firm conditions: “Just be smart and just play good golf. It’s a place where if you’re playing good you can be super aggressive and if you’re not playing great you’ve got to play really smart and kind of get to the positions where you can get it up and down.
