It’s tough to be a baby. As newborns, infants are dependent on adults in so many ways. They aren’t mobile, are limited in their ability to express their needs, and (in the earliest stages, at least) lack the motor skills to even direct their gaze. But toddlerhood changes all of that. Equipped with more sophisticated language, motor, and cognitive skills, a whole new world opens up to them. And with this comes a powerful desire for agency. Agency relates to the ability to make choices and act on one’s own desires… to take charge. Parents can avoid a whole host of conflicts by leaning into this desire for decision making authority. That doesn’t mean anything goes, of course. But where you can find opportunity to allow your child to make his/her own decisions, it’s well worth the effort. And this dad has the process down pat - allowing our hero (who just celebrated her first birthday) to select a book from a limited number of choices. Does it take a little longer? Sure. But it helps children to grow as independent decision makers in safe and appropriate ways. And that’s magic. This precious little decision maker was shared to TT by melissa.r.hicks.

A message from NianNian team member: During my visit to a temple in Myanmara a low-income country in Southeast Asia that has been plagued by ongoing civil conflict and, most recently, a devastating earthquake in March 2025, I observed young monks diligently studying Buddhist scriptures, despite the lack of internet access. I had hoped to introduce them to Giggle Academy, but unfortunately, it does not currently offer an offline version. May I kindly ask CZ 🔶 BNB if there is any way we can support these children? Let us work together to bring Giggle into real-world learning environments, so we can continue to enhance and refine the app to better serve communities in need.

It feels like Apple is deliberately burying the 𝕏 app on the App Store I've been browsing the App Store for the past week, and not even once did I see the 𝕏 app on the home page or in any featured list The 𝕏 app isn't featured anywhere despite having a massive user base and download numbers Even in the Social Networking category where 𝕏 is supposed to rank at the top... you won't find it. I checked most categories and couldn't see the 𝕏 app anywhere, which is something Apple highly controls through its editorial team. A childless life is one of the saddest lives a person can live. It’s sad bc you miss out on one of the greatest forms of happiness a human can ever experience. This is the kind of joy that doesn’t come from $, status, or freedom. Rather, this pure joy comes from loving someone more than yourself. And also there’s a deeper thing of not having kids. Your story, your values, your genetics, all the things that make you unique, don’t get carried forward. Having kids is a bet on the future. It’s like saying, I think tomorrow is worth investing in. But when you choose not to, you’re opting out of the future you could’ve helped shape. This is the kind of happiness, which imo is the highest level of happiness a human can feel, that only exists when you have kids. Being human is awesome. Make more beautiful humans. Have kids. You will never feel ready, and I promise, you won’t regret it.
