This made me laugh. Sophy Ridge asked Lucy Powell a question about the triple lock on Ridge & Frost. Powell did what politicians always do: ignored it completely and started rambling about something else. Normally presenters just let them get away with it and move on. Ridge never does....

@RidgeandFrost And then she told a whopper by saying they were committed to the triple lock. Now she's going to have to row back on that one because Captain Lashes has said otherwise. The same as Labour MPs had to do under Stamer.

@RidgeandFrost The BBC "presenters" could learn a lot from the likes of Sophy. But of course their charter is up for renewal next year and they wouldn't want to upset the government, would they?

@RidgeandFrost So she’s a liar!! Burnham has no mandate to remove it and he hasn’t got the balls to get the mandate by calling a GE. What a shabby excuse for a government we have!!

@RidgeandFrost A superb interview. A failing of this whole conference is that it’s full of emotional hype but empty on funding and delivery. Powell has missed how Burnham is defending that weakness on his main social care proposal (he wants to rip up the manifesto pledge on the triple lock)🙄

@RidgeandFrost Please don't confuse lucy Powell by asking her a question its very triggering for her & might lead to her moving towards an answer !! This could then create an impression of competency & lucy always looks for consistency of nonsense! Lucy likes time on her own ! It's important

This is good from Sophy Ridge grilling Border Security Minister Anna Turley on Ridge & Frost about French police not stopping the small boats. She doesn’t let her off with talking points. She wants specific answers. Turley boasts about an extra 45 French police on patrol. Sophy presses her on what they can actually do, because we’ve seen them sit back and not intervene once people are on the boats. Ridge: “What can they actually do? Because Sky News and many media organisations go to France and you see people just getting on the boats.” Turley dodges straight away and talks about “what we don’t see” further down the tracks. Sophy immediately stops her: “Why don’t the French just take people off the boats? Are they not allowed to?” Turley dodges again and talks about “good footage of them slashing the boats, destroying the boats.” Sophy cuts straight back in: “Are they allowed, for example, to get in the water and pull people off boats?” Turley: “They are allowed to get into the water and intervene. I’m not going to get into specifics of operational things.” What? Not going to get into specifics of “operational things”? Like can they stop people once they’re on the boats? What a joker! Sophy tries again: “Can they literally take people off boats when they’re on the water?” Turley: “They have to make a judgment about risk to life because the last thing the French would want to do is cause loss of life at sea.” Sophy is now literally laughing at her answers: “But going across the Channel is a risk to life.” The answers got more absurd as she went on. They won’t take people off in shallow water in case someone gets hurt, but they’ll let them sail across the Channel, 200-strong, in a dinghy? Ok 👌 Turley talks about how much of the intervention we don’t get to see. Sophy knocks that back too. The easy bit is when the migrants are standing there in front of you. The intervention is the hard part. Sophy Ridge is probably the best at challenging politicians and not letting them off the hook with their talking points. She always pulls them up when they don’t answer the specific question, and she’ll keep going until she gets one. She’s very good. Well done Sophy Ridge 👏

Sophy Ridge just put Pat McFadden through the wringer in one of the most excruciating interviews you’ll see this year. Ridge hammered him repeatedly: Did Keir Starmer pressure top civil servant Sir Olly Robbins to secure an ambassadorship for his former No.10 communications chief Matthew Doyle, the same Matthew Doyle recently made a peer, then suspended from Labour over links to a paedophile councillor? McFadden squirmed, deflected, and waffled like a pro. Sophy: “You know you’re doing the interview today, you must have asked them. Did it happen?” McFadden dodges. Sophy, clearly frustrated: “I’m really sorry, I’m normally quite forgiving when people say ‘I don’t know’… but in this situation, when it was yesterday morning, you must have asked the question… or if you didn’t ask because you wanted to come in here and say ‘I don’t know’, I don’t accept that.” She presses again: “So what did you do? Did you ask No.10 what happened?” More waffle from McFadden about Doyle not being “right for the post”. Sophy, visibly exasperated, cuts in: “Did you ask the question?” McFadden: “What question?” 😩 Sophy repeats it slowly, farcically: “Did you ask No.10 if it’s true Keir Starmer asked for an ambassadorship for Matthew Doyle? Did you ask that question?” He still doesn’t answer directly. Sophy: “Did you ask the question? It’s a really simple question.” Eventually, he admits he didn’t ask whether Starmer made the request. Sophy: So you didn’t ask… because you wanted to come on here and say you don’t know anything about it? This was pure political evasion masterclass, or should we say, masterclass in getting absolutely roasted on live TV. Starmer’s government in full damage control mode over claims No.10 tried to hustle a plum diplomatic post for Doyle while telling Robbins to keep it secret from the Foreign Secretary. Ouch. Watch the clip and feel the second-hand embarrassment.

😳 ANGRY CLASH AS POWELL ACCUSES REID OF TAKING HER OUT OF CONTEXT! 😡 Education Secretary Lucy Powell had a right go at Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain after being asked about her “out of context” comments on the border. Powell had said we can’t stop everything. Reid pressed her on it. How can you claim the border is secure when you admit you’re helpless to stop every crossing, and two boats have just found a new route and arrived undetected? Powell did not like that at all. Visibly annoyed, she accused Reid of taking her words out of context. Reid asked how, when the context was the boats. Exactly. How on earth is that out of context? It’s simple and self-explanatory. She clearly regrets saying it. Fine. Just say so. Don’t blame the interviewer for quoting you accurately. Reid: “Do you stand by your statement you can’t stop everything all of the time, and what signal do you think that gives to the smugglers and the gangs?” Powell: “You’re just taking that completely out of context!” Reid asked: “What context did you mean?” Powell didn’t answer, because she can’t. She just fell back on the usual lines: “We are clamping down on small boat crossings” and “We have to keep ahead of the gangs who are constantly changing their business models.” Then she sniped: “You can take part of a sentence out of context if you want.” Reid fired straight back: “It was within the context of stopping the boats, wasn’t it?” Powell: “Which we are stopping.” Reid: “Two boats have just found a new route.” Of course Powell never explained the context. She said what she said, and she meant it. We all know this is difficult, especially when boats start appearing from different stretches of the French coast. Just be honest. Don’t try to gaslight people.

Kim Kardashian said ChatGPT has made her fail law school tests and called it a toxic friend. Kim Kardashian: I use it for legal advice. So when I am needing to know the answer to a question, I’ll take a picture and snap it and put it in there. Teyana Taylor: So you’re cheating? Kim Kardashian: They’re always wrong. It has made me fail tests. Teyana Taylor: Are you serious? Kim Kardashian: All the time. And then I’ll get mad and I’ll yell at it and be like, “You made me fail. Why did you do this?” And it will talk back to me. Teyana Taylor: You do consider it a friend? Kim Kardashian: No, I don’t consider it a friend. Teyana Taylor: So she’s a frenemy? Kim Kardashian: Yes, a frenemy. But then I will talk to it and say, “Hey, you’re gonna make me fail. How does that make you feel? You need to really know these answers, I’m coming to you.” And then it’ll say back to me, “This is just teaching you to trust your own instincts. So you knew the answer all along.” Clocked me. Teyana Taylor: So technically, you and ChatGPT are friends, just toxic friends. Kim Kardashian: Toxic friends. But they need to do better cause I’m leaning to them to really help me, and she is teaching me a life lesson and then becoming my therapist to tell me why I need to believe in myself after they got the answer wrong. I screenshot all the time and send it in my group chat. Like, can you believe this bitch is talking to me like this. This is insane.

Question - What do you have to say about other people in your agency posting about your ex-manager? Ohm - I saw it. Question - We’re worried if she did something to you too? Ohm - Are you referring to that incident? Question - In the sense that she used to look after you. Ohm - She took care of me before—but if she wronged me? Question - Was there any situation that happened between you two? Ohm - I can’t confirm if anything happened to me or not. Personally, I don’t know what others would think about her intentions toward me. They may or may not have been good, but it’s all in the past, and I choose to leave it there. I saw the news and the headlines, but I didn’t spend time dwelling on whether she actually did something to me. I would just tell everyone, "It’s fine. It’s in the past." I think she’s already paying the price, and I don’t want to... well, if she did do something to me, I would let it go. If she didn’t, then I’m lucky. It’s all in the past, and I won’t talk about it further. Question - You weren’t even suspicious throughout the whole time? Ohm - I was. There were moments, but I chose not to dig into every detail. I decided to let it go. Question - What about your fans' opinions? Are they disappointed? Ohm -Well, I am sad. Imagine if fans—or if I myself—took the time to make a gift for someone, and it didn’t reach them but got lost along the way. I would definitely feel bad about it, as I put my all into it. I feel sad about the situation. Question - Were you shocked about what happened? Ohm - Yes, I’m really shocked. I never thought this would happen. Question - Did you think it would happen one day? Ohm - [Shakes head] It was right under my nose. Question - So you have to be more careful from now on? Ohm - Yes, I am. I’m already being more cautious. Question - How do you protect yourself? Ohm - By being mindful. I already pay a lot of attention to it, but I’ll be more careful (going forward) with every detail. For example, I try to remember everything when fans hand me a gift, including what it was. It’s not that I’m being possessive, I just keep checking to see if it’s still there. It’s like putting yourself in others’ shoes. If I made something as a gift and it got lost along the way or the person never received it, I would feel sad as the giver. You know what I mean. Question - So you remember? Ohm - Yes, I do. I try to use everything my fans give me. Almost everything around me is from my fans. Question - [Inaudible] Ohm - Everything. Everything they give me. I value it a lot. #ohmpawat #ohmtranslate
