This poor girl… The medical examiner explained the condition of Athena Strand’s body as seen in the autopsy photos. She said that as soon as the body bag was opened, there was clear congestion from the neck up. Blood had pooled in her head and face, which made her skin appear much darker and more swollen. She then walked through the injuries across her forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks, lips, and neck. There were patterned abrasions that matched the textured surfaces inside the FedEx truck, along with bruising and trauma inside her mouth. Her conclusion was blunt. Athena died from a combination of blunt force trauma, smothering, and strangulation. And the injuries to her head and face happened while she was still alive.
