Last year more than SIX women every month were murdered, and this year is already on track to equal or better that obscene statistic. Yet in combating this horror, both AusCycling and Channel 7 chose to highlight a women’s cycling race as the correct tribute to commemorate the recent death of Melissa Hoskins instead of focussing on MALE VIOLENCE as the problem. Our 2nd tweet shows the schedule for the road race involved run by Australian Cycling, and shows that they could have organised the one minute of silence for Melissa during the men’s race. Instead, they chose to run the tribute before the women’s event. WHY? WHY IS WOMEN’S VIOLENCE ALWAYS PREDOMINANTLY HIGHLIGHTED BY WOMEN AND THE VICTIMS MOURNED PREDOMINANTLY BY WOMEN? A man is complaining that Wetherspoons told him he couldn’t use the women’s toilets after two women informed staff they were uncomfortable with him being in there. Apparently, women are expected to be perfectly comfortable with a man being in, and taking photos in, the ladies’ toilets. Not a word about the women who no longer felt safe or comfortable because he was there. Plenty, though, about his own “safety” and “comfort” if he had to use the men’s. Well done, Wetherspoons.
