This may be the new Rocket Garden at Starbase, with a raised center structure, curving stairs up either side and perhaps space for Booster 12 & ship 20 displays. Looks to be nearing completion, perhaps by the end of August. If this is the new Rocket Garden, I hope... show more

There is a new addition to the US Space & Rocket Center Space Camp under construction and it is the Inspiration 4 Training Center! Initial funding in 2022 of $10 Million by Jared Isaacman Jared Isaacman to initiate construction & at the time, it was the largest single donation in the history of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center! Expansion Funding of ~$15 Million in July 2025 was subsequently given by Jared and is designated for: Mission Operations: Supporting advanced simulations for Space Camp, Robotics, and Cyber Camp A new Dormitory: Providing seed money for a fourth dormitory to house students attending the programs. Really great to see funding of facilities and programs like this to inspire a new generation of space explorers! @Ellieinspace

While we wait for SpaceX to de-stack Ship 40 and roll back booster 20 for engine swaps and other checks following yesterdays abort right at engine ignition, I thought I’d share my close encounter of Ship 40 as it rolled to the launch site a few days ago. If you’ve never been to Starbase for a launch, you may not know just how close you can be to the largest rocket in history just hours before it launches … there is nothing else like this anywhere in the world! Waiting for a new launch date … currently NET 20 July, but this could and likely will change so watch for the official SpaceX announcement.

The Princess Royal is opening the Queen Elizabeth II Garden in Regent’s Park this morning, a new regenerated public space for “reflection”. The garden opens on Monday, laden with royal symbolism and plants linked to Queen Elizabeth, to mark the centenary of QEII’s birth today.

America, perhaps this new beginning is an opportunity for unity for you. Perhaps we in our world may be able to, as Scripture suggests, 'love one another' in the wake of this election.

Landing a rocket from orbit used to be a cool trick, but if you want to impress the people at the space center these days you need to do a low pass, followed by a rocket powered handbrake turn and then land your rocket.

#SpaceX is preparing to move the massive new #Starship launch mount structure for #Starbase Pad B to the launch site for installation. In this post, I’ll give an overview of the design and use my 3D models to calculate the structure’s mass in its current configuration. This new launch mount, nearly an entire redesign, is SpaceX’s best effort at correcting many of the issues discovered with the mount at Pad A after a handful of launches. The only similarity between this mount and the original launch mount for Pad A is that 20 arms will still be used to support the #SuperHeavy booster before liftoff. However, the arms and everything else making up the structure are entirely different.

The Cybertruck is the strongest, baddest, toughest, most futuristic vehicle ever to be made. The SpaceX team knows this and thus is making use of this product to tow a rocket booster.

SpaceX has made history by successfully catching the Super Heavy booster of its Starship rocket mid-air during the fifth test flight at its Starbase facility in Texas. In a groundbreaking move, the 232-foot booster performed precise maneuvers to align with SpaceX's "Mechazilla" arms, which smoothly captured the rocket as it returned. This achievement represents a significant step forward in SpaceX's goal of rapid rocket reusability, advancing its capabilities in space exploration.

The most important upgrade to Starship isn't a new Raptor engine or a bigger booster. It's hidden beneath the launch pad. SpaceX is quietly changing how the world's largest rocket is fueled, and it could be the breakthrough that makes rapid reusability possible. #SpaceX #Starship #RocketScience #Cryogenics #Starbase

Now that Starship Flight 12 is completed, how did the new V3 Booster performance compare to the older Flight 11 V2 Booster and did the redesign, higher TWR and flight path management really make a big difference? I thought we would look at one aspect of the Booster design to help answer this question, specifically how well the new design reduces gravity losses during the launch to hot staging portion of flight. Come alone with me for a simplified aerodynamics & rocket engineering discussion and then do a direct performance comparison using video clips from the SpaceX live streams. My intent is to help appreciate some of the effort the engineers have put into the new V3 booster and Raptor engine designs to increase the capabilities of the Starship system and greatly increase the payload to orbit potential of Starship. Obviously there are many other considerations (it is rocket science), but I hope you find this helpful.
