Was talking to a friend about cars today and he said something that had me laughing: “BMW always lie about their horsepower. If you see a BMW rated at 500 hp, just know it’s probably making 550-580.” I laughed…😂 then he explained. BMWs often feel much faster than the numbers suggest. He’s not wrong. They might not actually be lying on the dyno, but they definitely have a reputation for making the car feel underrated on paper. Have you ever driven a BMW that felt stronger than the official hp figure?

This isn’t about choosing Come Over over Into the Sun or the other way around. Both deserve to be heard properly. We wanted Come Over to be included in the album as well, not just as a hidden track—we genuinely find it moving and truly a masterpiece. But that doesn’t mean another track should be pushed down or replaced. It’s about giving space to both songs without removing anything at all.

I don’t know what it is with Carlos quotes and people not putting everything he said complete but this is what he said, also mind you this is what got Kimi angry, but Carlos DID moved out of the way “I think he felt I blocked him, but I don't think I did. My friend Gary Harris brought this musician named D'Angelo over to my NYC apt. He was trying to figure out what to do with the music he'd brought with him. I listened to every cut...not just out of respect but because it was smoking. At the end of the encounter he asked me, "What should I do with it?" I remember this as if it were yesterday. I said, "Put it out. It's perfect!" Being the #artist he is, I guess he had to explore some ways to make it better. About a year later I heard one of those songs on the radio. It was #genius and it was exactly what he had played for me. I know...I still have the original cassette. ~Nile Rodgers❤️🙏🏾✊🏾

I cannot comprehend what happened today. I literally cannot wrap my brain around the fact that you’re no longer here. Your last text to me was on Friday night, making a joke about the student driver sticker on my car as my son learns to drive. I had no idea that would be our last laugh together. Matt was so much more than a coworker—he was a close friend for years. Back when I did traffic at WISH-TV, we were constantly texting, bonding over how much we hated getting up early, keeping up with the morning commutes, and building a friendship that only grew deeper over time. We talked about everything: our struggles, spirituality, fitness, and relationships. He became like a brother to me. I will forever cherish our late-night coffee meetups just to talk about life. Matt was actually the one who brought me to WIBC. He told me, “Johnette, these people are amazing and you have to come work here.” By the grace of God, it all worked out. I’ll never forget showing up on my first day and receiving the biggest hug from him. Or how I used to steal his protein bars 😂 Or how he’d be sore from working out, and I’d send him stretching videos because he was always complaining about his hips. When Matt came on my podcast, he was so open about his own struggles that it gave me the courage to share mine. Because of Matt, I found the strength to share my past journey with substance abuse publicly. Today reminded me that at Radio One, we are far more than just coworkers—we are a family. We cried, hugged, and grieved together for a man we all loved and adored. I haven’t been able to stop crying today, and I am still trying to process everything. But I know I’m not alone in this grief; so many of us are feeling the deep void he left behind. Matt, I love you. You will never be forgotten.
