The NFL forced Al Michaels to 'correct the record' on-air... WOW. Apparently, the league's official status on the controversial missed FG is that it DID NOT hit the wire. "The league wants to take my lunch away because I said before that Reichard's only miss came when he hit a wire in London. The league says, 'no, no it was an optical illusion.' [That's] not what Reichard thinks."

This morning, the Hughes brothers told the TODAY that when Jack got his teeth knocked out vs Canada, Quinn lied to him over its severity in the moment -- "It's all good man, it's only chipped. You're gonna be ok..." Jack: "The first guy closest to me when I'm laying on the ice is obviously my older brother and he has the puck and you can see he's looking at me to see what's going on with my teeth and I remember him coming up to me and going, 'It's all good man, it's only chipped. You're gonna be ok...'" Quinn: "I could see him right there and I saw his smile and I thought 'uh-oh, that doesn't look good...'"

There it is. Kevin O'Connell told Tracy Wolfson before the game today that, while JJ McCarthy is going to Europe, he will NOT return to the field until week 7, after the Vikings' bye. "The plan for JJ McCarthy is to make the trip to Europe and continue to rehab there, and then they have the bye and he will hopefully play week 7."

Mike Florio reported on a recent episode of ProFootballTalk Live that KOC was "overruled" during the Vikings' 2025 offseason QB search -- that he wanted Darnold, Jones and Rodgers but didn't have a choice but to role with JJ McCarthy and Sam Howell. "As I understand it, O'Connell got overruled. He wanted to have Darnold or Jones or Aaron Rodgers, and he got overruled. They said no to Rodgers. Rodgers wanted to play for them last year, and they said no. They're sticking with JJ McCarthy."

After Game 1, Nazem Kadri revealed a weakness the Avs scouted pre-series on MN Wild goalie Jesper Wallstedt... then quickly backtracked when asked about all the COL goals scored from the left faceoff circle. 👀👀 Kadri: "I feel like I was in a pretty good scoring area... I've been watching a lot of this goaltender, so I just picked my spot and definitely, definitely picked it properly." Reporter: "It looked like a lot of you guys were picking that spot...?" According to Tom Pelissero, the Vikings agreed to terms on an extension with Brian Flores last week, before making it official yesterday. B-Flo's new deal is "huge" -- a contract that he (as a DC) could not refuse. "My understanding is [The Wilfs] made a huge offer, the type that Flores as a D-coordinator was not going to be able to refuse. He is still in the mix [for the Steelers and Ravens jobs]...we'll see what shakes out in those head coaching searches but right now, it looks like he will be back in Minnesota." -- via Power Trip KFAN

This was quite a moment this morning on Purple Daily (SKOR North - Minnesota Sports) -- Mackey straight-up challenges Doogie's reporting on current relations between the Vikings and Brian Flores... 👀 Wolfson: "I have not heard of any sort of schism with KOC, or others...I have not heard of any sort of fallout [between] Flo and others out in Eagan..." Mackey: "There is drama in some form behind the scenes. The exact nature of it has not come out." Wolfson: "Well, define drama, Phil, because expectations were enormous this year, even if Vegas said 8.5 over under, right? Mackey: "It's not that...It's not football. There's something off behind the scenes with Brian Flores that's not football...There's enough smoke here, where him going to interview for a DC job makes it even more interesting...."
