Four minutes from #StrangerThings Season 4 EP 8. The show never recovered after Dr. Brenner's death: There is NO way the same writers who delivered that cinematic masterpiece in S4 are responsible for what we got in S5. I genuinely can't wrap my head around it. That entire sequence is flawless. The character depth, the layered dialogue, the double meanings. Eleven reclaiming her agency and finally breaking free from Papa, especially in that quiet but powerful moment where she refuses to tell him she “understands,” was such a perfect act of defiance and growth. And all of that… just for the Duffers to kill her off in S5?!?! I will NEVER understand that. If Eleven breaking free from Papa was only going to lead to her death anyway, then what was the point of removing him, just to REPACKAGE the same dynamic through Dr. Kay, who ended up doing absolutely NOTHING in S5? I refuse to believe the same writers who wrote S1–S4 also wrote S5. And seriously… where the hell is Dr. Owens in s5, he was such an essential character only to discard him in the most important season?!
