How Students of the School of Nursing, Gusau, Surprised a Lecturer ‘Malam Aminu Dahiru’ with Impressive Gift Packages The students of the School of Nursing, Gusau, Zamfara State, recently surprised one of their lecturers with thoughtful and impressive gift packages. Moral Lesson: This gesture is a testament to the lecturer’s good character, dedication, and strong relationship with his students. It is not merely an attempt to gain favors or pass exams, as he is not the only lecturer in the class, school, or department. However, he may stand out as the most friendly, respectful, and supportive teacher, which likely inspired the students to appreciate him in this way. This serves as a reminder that kindness and goodness always leave a lasting impact. Wherever you find yourself in life, strive to be kind and do good. It pays to be good—both in this world and beyond.

Sen. Ron Johnson shares a disturbing story from a nursing professor about how faculty were told to treat unvaccinated students. “The callous comments by doctors and nurses to unvaccinated patients and their families are almost unbelievable.” “I was first made aware of these attitudes toward the unvaccinated by a nursing professor who submitted testimony to my committee in 2021.” “Here's an excerpt of the story she told back then.” “Quote, ‘It was determined by consensus of the faculty group that we were not to allow any special accommodations— in other words, switching of clinical assignments or sites to allow for unvaccinated students to progress in their degrees— and that it would be standard practice in all other nursing programs soon.’” “One faculty member exclaimed to the group, quote, ‘Good luck finding a new career.’” “Let that sink in a minute.” “They laughed at the thought of someone's dreams being crushed.” Senator Ron Johnson

New limits on federal student loans could dramatically reshape how the U.S. trains nurses and doctors. Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, future medical students would be capped at borrowing $50,000 per year. The Trump administration is now proposing a stricter cap of $20,500 per year for students pursuing graduate degrees in nursing, public health or social work. Geoff Bennett speaks to the American Nurses Association's Jennifer Mensik Kennedy for more.

What a powerful and refreshing experience it was at the University of Lagos with Mr. Peter Obi and the vibrant nursing students during the 28th NUNSA Annual General Assembly. The energy in the room was electric. The theme, “Empowering Nurses: A Catalyst for Sustainable Health Care in Africa,” wasn’t just a topic, it was a call to action. The conversation was deep, honest, and necessary. Mr. Peter Obi didn’t just speak, Mr Peter Obi connected. He highlighted something we must all pay attention to: why is nursing, such a critical profession, not advancing at the same pace as its counterparts? Where is the legislative support? Where is the investment in those who carry so much of the health burden of our people? The students responded with sharp, thoughtful questions. I watched the light in their eyes. I felt their hunger to contribute, to lead, to change the system. And I thought, this is it. This is what gives me hope. These young people, these nurses, are the backbone of our future health systems. To every nursing student and young leader out there: don’t wait for permission to lead. Own your space. Demand more. Create solutions. You are not just part of the system, you are the heartbeat of transformation. This moment at UNILAG wasn’t just an event. It was a spark. And from that spark, I believe a fire will rise, a fire of reform, equity, and innovation in healthcare across Africa. Let’s keep pushing. Let’s keep building. Because the future is not something we enter, it’s something we create. -DrMo
