I see a lot of designers who want to stay "designers," like the role is some kind of warm, fuzzy blanket focusing purely on experience and aesthetics. But this is not how the best designers think. In my interview with Soleio on what separates top 1% designers from mediocre designers, he says it brilliantly: “If you delegate impact to PMs, you cannot ask for the title of excellent.” At the end of the day, it’s your job -- not your manager’s, not your PM’s, not your CEO’s — for your design work to change behavior positively for the user

1 hour in 1 minute started at 13,740 ended at 24,720 in 1 hour with 6x multipliers i made 10,980 the goal was 30k but genuinely this was so brain numningly boring that it actually brought my mood down lol, still crazy that at the rate it took me to do this it would take me 7 ish hours to get to 70k, and i rly dont want to sell my one and only halo just so i have something in my pocket. just saw the double exp weekend thing so ig i'll redo an hour or something when it comes out. yay, i can get to 70k in like 3-4 ish hours instead of 7. im just so sick of this. i dont feel like i can be excited for updates anymore because in order to interact with anything new in the game i have to waste hours of my life on actually nothing. this hour i could've been like oh i dont know, actually playing the game. working on my dorm, making an outfit, but yk i only did this to get that one val top bc thats the only one i find worth spending a full on hour to get bc it looks like something ill use often.

Forget threejs demos, Opus 5.5 is *incredible* at building apps. This is Letters Abroad, a language-learning app I'm working on. You exchange letters with an AI pen pal, and learn a language through context (plus some brain science magic). (also built by Opus, of course) I've been tinkering with this the last week. I built a prototype with Astra, but wasn't happy with the design. Tried Fable, still wasn't good enough. Then Opus 5.5 dropped. In a few hours, I've made more progress on the visuals than in a week of burning tokens. This model is insane. It reads my mind and nails it every time. All the gorgeous 3D models and fluid transitions are thanks to Opus. Crazy idea, prompt, repeat. No more quota anxiety, just non-stop flow state. I'll be writing about my prompts/skills/learnings from building this. Lots to share; this generation of models is absolutely game-changing for design!

I use these tools every day. I’m one of the biggest advocates of AI. I do NOT fear it. I leverage it. I appreciate what Figma is trying to do here. Good intentions to help designers build faster. Make the design easier and accessible for everyone. And of course, meanwhile, profit from It. it is a business after all and it is perfectly fine. While I was watching Dylan generate detailed designs from a prompt, I started seeing aspiring designers getting attached to these tools and having everything easy, ready, quick… and a series of questions started to arise in my mind; * ➟ Are we going to see a generation of designers who lack resilience and love/appreciation for craft? ➟ Designers who are easily hurt and seek help from AI tools every time a client raises a criticism for the proposed design? ➟ Are these designers going to blame AI tools for the outcome and not take accountability for it? ➟ Perhaps they will go back to the AI input and generate 20+ options for clients in 5 mins without thinking instead of talking to the client, understanding the product positioning and actually thinking/exploring/working for the best design solution? ➟ Are we going to see lazier designers? and weak, giving up, getting frustrated easily? * Dylan says ”This tool helps us to get past the blank canvas problem” Blank canvas is one of the best parts of this work. A new fresh start with endless possibilities. Staring at the blank screen and reflecting on our past experiences, our conversations with the client, transforming these thoughts on screen pixel by pixel… That’s how we truly understand the problem at hand and grow as designers.
