One of our favorite moments in the latest Everyday Astronaut video tour of Stoke is when Andy Lapsa and Tim check out the Andromeda engine at our Moses Lake Test Site. Check out the clip here:

This is substantial infrastructure right here!" Another great moment from the latest Everyday Astronaut visit to Stoke with Andy Lapsa when Tim gets to experience the Zenith engine test stand at our Moses Lake facility. Check it out:

Today we announced our $150M Series B led by Index Ventures with major participation from Redpoint and returning investors including Thrive Capital, Felicis, and Abstract. Across aerospace, energy, and manufacturing, engineering teams are pushing what’s possible. The software behind many of these systems hasn’t kept up. Revel gives engineering teams the infrastructure to test and control complex hardware systems with speed and confidence. In just over a year, we’ve built a world-class team, converted every pilot into a customer, and are now expanding the platform across new industries. If you believe great hardware deserves great software, we’re hiring across the board.

Something new: the Primer Fellowship. If you've dreamed of launching a microschool, we built this for you. We're opening up the Primer platform — our software, ops engine, academic program, etc. — and giving it to you. Let's launch some schools.

The question we get the most with 8090 Enterprise engagements. Who maintains it and what happens when the software needs to change? Most custom software is built once and patched forever. Every change request becomes a six-week negotiation with a vendor who can no longer explain their own code. 8090 Enterprise inverts that. We design, build, host, AND maintain. Software Factory powers our delivery and is built for the second year of changes, the third year, and the tenth. Reach out to us about what system you want to replace: sales@8090.inc

🚨UNCANNY VALLEY: WHEN SILICON VALLEY RUNS OUT OF THINGS TO CODE From finance to logistics to media, software ate the world. But what happens when there’s nothing left to digitize? Jim Dukhovny: “We automated most of the world—maybe more than people liked. At some point, there’s nothing left to turn into software. That’s when software must start complementing hardware.” Uncanny Valley with Dr Danish — only on 𝕏

Re-introducing 8090... Two ways to work with us: → [BUILD] Software Factory: the platform for consulting and technology businesses building software with AI agents. The documentation stays alive because the system keeps it alive (no one ever updates the PRD on their own). → [BUY] 8090 Enterprise: AI-native custom software we design, build, and host tailored to your exact business needs. Give us a problem and we go execute. What part of your current SDLC is the most overdue for a rebuild?

The bar for platform reliability has never been higher, and recent headlines have reminded us why. One of the unique aspects of 🦊 GitLab is the cloud neutral, deploy anywhere approach we offer, including our fast growing GitLab Dedicated option, which provides high scale, isolated infrastructure for customers who don't want to manage their own infrastructure but need their software factory to run at cloud scale. I recently sat down with Eric Hulser from RV Technologies (the software team behind Rivian and Volkswagen Technologies) who is one of our top dedicated customers. Eric shares how his team thinks about the partnership and the critical nature of their software pipelines. Their dedicated instance is scaled up and out and represents one of the single largest deployments of Gitaly in the world. Thanks, Eric, for the partnership and for sharing what your team is building!

The new bar for software: "can I vibecode this?" We’re heading into a world of personal software — built for one person and their needs — and premium software, designed with such depth that you’re buying a solution, not a tool. Most software today sits in the middle. And the middle is death. As the market catches up to our new reality, it won’t just be the ai bubble popping — it’ll be a lot of traditional SaaS getting wiped out (From my recent Kinference talk.)

Within software architecture, few people shaped the industry as much as Grady Booch. Safe to say he's a true legend. In today's The Pragmatic Engineer Podcast episode, he shares fascinating stories, insights, observations. Listen or watch the full episode: - YouTube: - Spotify, Apple, or web: Thank you to our wonderful sponsors: 🌟 WorkOS — The modern identity platform for B2B SaaS. Learn more at 🌟Sevalla — Deploy anything from preview environments to Docker images. Check it out at 🌟Chronosphere — The observability platform built for control. Get details at --- 3 of my takeaways from this fascinating conversation: 1. Surprising: The US Department of Defense and the military built some of the most complicated software systems in the 70s and 80s. In the 70s, these organizations probably had the most code to deal with - globally! - and things like distributed computing were pioneered thanks to these use cases. 2. The three axes of software architecture Grady argues that when talking about software architecture, we should look at these three dimensions: ceremony, risk and complexity. 3. The economics of software and software architecture are always connected Machine time was very expensive in the 1960s and 1970s, and software had to be written from scratch. Good architecture meant writing highly performant code to utilize these rather limited machines. However, these days, machine time has gotten very cheap, and there are also plenty of “building blocks” at our disposal: from frameworks to cloud services. Software architecture is frequently still connected with cost: to decide on what services and technologies to use, taking the cost aspect into account! I hope you enjoy this conversation - together with a history overview of the last 50 years in software - as much as I did! Thanks a lot Grady Booch

Elon Musk on the SpaceXAI satellites: “We intend for SpaceXAI satellites to allow people to use whatever GPU or TPU they want. NVIDIA GPUs, Google TPUs, Amazon Trainiums, or any other chips can be put on them. We will also offer our own chips, and we want to offer our AI software, in the future. It will be such that you can run anyone’s AI hardware or software on the SpaceXAI satellites.”
