The way they escorted JD isn't as secure as Trump. He was standing and walked off the stage. The President was secured in place until enough security was in place to fully cover his body as he moved. Faster isn't always better.

I thought that until I read an explanation. VPVance was alone. Grab and go. President Trump was with Melania and Karoline. Three to move out. Surrounded the President and brought enough to surround him. Not sure that’s correct but makes some sense.

The entire existing Secret Secret organization needs to be fired and rebuilt from scratch. I’ve never seen such sloppy, incompetence in any security detail, not to mention what is supposed to be the highest security detail in our country! These agents are supposed to be the elite of the elite. Instead they closely resemble the three stooges bumping into each other and getting in each other’s way. Hire @realErikDPrince to select and train new Secret Service Agents. This is ridiculous!

They needed the two of them to not be in the same room. POTUS and the VP have two separate teams ... one team took VP out of the way and the other team took care of the President... It's not one or the other.

It just seems JD Vance's detail heard the shots before the Presidents. Seems the whole side of the table that the POTUS was on couldn't hear the shots as easily.

My guess is each person has their own designated secret service. Vance’s were in position, Trump’s and Melania’s were in the other room If SS was only designated to help everybody important, that might bring handoff issues at different events and venues. Maybe that happened here

Many years ago my dad was invited to golf with VP Dan Quayle. There were weeks of background checks and a serious search of him and his belongings before he ever went near the VP. I certainly do not see an equal level of competence being demonstrated by today’s Secret Service.
