Like, does the younger crowd not understand that comedy isn’t all supposed to be earnest? People make faces and react to things in character and it’s not a reflection of their actual expectations or beliefs? I don’t know what Jost believes but it’s beside the point. They wouldn’t have done that joke if they didn’t expect people to understand why the punchline was what it was which is people are fangirling over him.

i’m genuinely confused by this argument… “definitely woo” is clearly a sarcastic line, making the joke that he’s being snide towards those wooing.. it was not disdain, but the point of the joke was definitely to deride the audience. whether thats bad or not is another thing
