People think that when we say that we need Arber Xhekaj, we think that because he’s in the lineup all of a sudden the Caps are going to stop being physical. We’ve been saying this since the start of the season, we need Xhekaj because he’s the only dman on this team who is able to respond to fire with fire. Defensively he’s better than Edmunsson ever was in terms of coverage and rush defense AND physicality. Xhekaj is the only D-man in the entire NHL who is a third-pair D-man but has the expectation of a #1 D-man who is supposed to be the anchor of this team defensively. Like it or not, we need Arber Xhekaj on our third pair.
