This scene is a prime example why I think Russell T Davies hasn’t lost his “sauce” and is still an excellent writer. The dialogue and visual emotion really had me feel sad and empty. And hats off to Millie Gibson who sold this scene effortlessly

Murray Gold hasn't lost it either. It was a perfect re-use of the music from Bill and Nardole's goodbyes to Capaldi's Doctor. ("Can't I Rest?")

I legit think something catastrophic happened behind the scenes of this whole era because none of it adds up. RTD wasn't this bad in It's a Sin, he wasn't THIS bad in the 60th. Like SOMETHING had to have happened.

I think the biggest issue with the current format is these sort of scenes being cut because there simply isn’t time for them. RTD is clearly still able to write them but these slower scenes will get crowded out all the time it’s an opener + 5 standalone stories + 2pt finale

I feel like this is where the season was really meant to finish. Everyone celebrating, and Doctor & Belinda planning their next adventure, while Ruby (and the audience) watches on from the sidelines. Herself a foundling, she’s the only one who can mourn another lost child.

This was his finest hour. I was disappointed by last year's finale, as I believe RTD is capable of much more (even though it was still a decent finale, it didn't meet his usual standards). It seems to me that he had more time to prepare for Season 2. The pacing is a lot better!

All 3 of them are fantastic actors but the issue isn’t their performances; it’s the writing. It feels so mean + cold for the Doctor to treat Ruby like she’s crazy and dismiss her. Knowing what she’s been through, and knowing that her memory is glitching… it’s just mean-spirited
