This scene traumatized an entire generation.

Until today, I still believe Don did nothing wrong. Don warned his wife not to allow the kid in. Then when the zombies tried to break in, he fought the zombies off so the others could run. Then he went upstairs to LOOK FOR HIS WIFE, because his wife went looking for the child. The zombies entered the room, IN BETWEEN Don and his wife, what can he do, really? Not to mention, they have two kids waiting for them somewhere else. It's a harsh reality.

I hated him in that moment for leaving his wife and run . But thinking back on it, she was dead either way. He wanted to save her but there was no plan where he didn’t die too. So, I get it. As sad as I am to admit it, I get it.

🎥 -28 Weeks Later

I hate sprinting zombies. Reminded me of Black Summer where in one episode this dude running away from one around his entire neighbourhood for hours and its still chasing him. Talk about a zombie with a high capacity full charge battery

@terefurz The music, the zombies running faster, the scene, 1 man Alive vs +40 going for him, so much anxiety in 1 minute of the film. 😩

This movie still traumatizes me, especially where the dad turned into zombie and was chasing his son. His eyes was scary.

Banger opening 10 mins. Traumatising? Debatable. I will say Don did what he had to. He didn’t want to open the door for the kid and he kept pleading with Alice to leave, but she insisted to help the kid both times, getting herself cornered by the infected. If he tried to save her he would’ve been turned by the infected that ran right at him, and their kids would’ve been parentless (he did try to save Jacob at the boat). He’s harshly criticised but it was her empathetic decisions that led to his. Back in the day the zombies were slow… when did they get so fast? I know his adrenaline during this scene was on 💯.

Those zombies and the ones in I Am Legend were scary!! Brilliant scene from an absolutely turgid movie. Kinda like the start of the Dawn Of The Dead remake.

Don did the only rational thing. He warned her multiple times, fought to buy time for everyone, then went back upstairs looking for her

They probably would have been fine had that other lady also not peaked outside, because everything got relatively quiet until she pulled the paper back to look outside and that's when the infected attacked. If she'd just left things alone, the infected would have eventually gotten bored and moved on.

Absolutely. It wasn’t just scary, it felt painfully real. That’s the kind of scene that stays in your head long after the credits roll.

She literally barricaded herself in a room with that child, with no way to escape, and then screamed "help us!!!" If he stayed, all 3 would have turned into zombies!!!

Didnt traumatize me. He WARNED her. She didnt listen. I dont blame him for peacing out

Their kids were in the US that was quarantined, they were safe and did not need saving.

I would have given up long ago… I don’t have all that strength in me to keep running

She wanted to play the hero and then when everything went sideways, she wanted help. People like that exist today.

Thus scene was one of the most terrifying moment in the movie, amazing movie tho Movie title - 28 Weeks Later

The movie kinda peaked here.

This scene always had me torn cause on one hand I feel like as a man if there was no way out you go out with your family but on the other hand, if the world is apocalyptic and you see your wife trapped with no way out…..I mean tf you suppose to do

I laughed at that part so many times because miss ma’am he told you “come on” way too many times, they was already crunching time.. he had to get outta there to live😭😭 I feel him!!!

I gotcha lol

Watching this on DvD on a school night…

I was not emotionally prepared for this scene as a kid and clearly still am not

I remember watching this scene thinking there is no way they can top 28 Days Later. Then I forgot to breathe during this entire scene and ate my words.

28 days and 28 weeks later, these 2 were peak among zombies movies. Too bad to see that 28 years later part 1 and 2 were extremely bad in my opinion, 2 movies out of context, without essence and direction.

This is a metaphor for modern day Britain.

This opening is pure nightmare fuel. Fast zombies + that impossible choice = generational trauma. Still one of the best horror sequences ever filmed

The family left me so frustrated . Many people died because of their dumb choices .

See now this is the kind of tension I like to build for our dnd games. Really ramp up things as high as possible.

I’m too old to have been traumatized. I had been watching horror movies for 20 years at that point.

And it's the first time I see it

Those fast zombies were terrifying!

Still one of the best scenes in a horror film. How is instinct of survival trumps all morality and even his physical capability is insane. You can tell he’s tired of running but not living.

ce qui m'a traumatisé c'est qu'elle a pas suivis son homme pour s'echapper 🤣🤣

@mariav_m

Bro you ain’t running fasttttt

To this day 28 Weeks Later still has some if not thee most terrifying version of zombies in both TV & Movies. Give me The Walking Dead zombies any day of the week, if a zombie apocalypse starts & I see them sprinting I'm done.

This scene showed human nature in its rawest form when panic kicks in!! Which made it realistic. But I wouldn’t ever leave my wife and kids behind lol

Yeah, that opening scene from 28 Weeks Later is straight-up nightmare fuel. The sprinting zombies, the chaos, and that impossible choice… it still hits hard even after all these years. Truly traumatized an entire generation. 🧟♂️

mans left his wife, reunited with her as a potential cure for the world, gets infected by her and k*lls her just to be the final boss for their children. crazy man.

Only decent part of the movie.

Like a dumbass I would think I could stop them

What did you expect from Rumpelstiltskin? She did not uphold her part of the bargain.

I woulda done the same exact thing

Some of us are still recovering from it

Many will still rewatch it
