Most people read the dollar exactly backwards. A rising dollar looks like strength. Strong America, good economy, the Fed doing its job. A falling dollar looks like weakness. Inflation, debasement, the end of dollar dominance. It is the other way around. A rising dollar usually means global funding is tightening. The world is short of dollars and scrambling to find them. That is not strength. That is stress. Think of a hurricane coming and everyone rushing to buy bottled water. The price spikes. That does not mean the water got stronger. It means people are scared and desperate. The dollar works the same way. When it surges against everything at once, it is telling you dollars are getting scarce, not that America is winning. That is why the dollar spikes in crises. The 1997 Asian crisis. 2008. The 2015 emerging market squeeze. March 2020. The 2024 carry trade blow up. The pattern is not random. None of this is really about the Fed or money printing. The dollar's exchange value is mechanical. It runs on the eurodollar system, the offshore dollar funding made of bank balance sheets, collateral, repo, and swaps. The biggest driver is dealer balance sheets. When dealers expand, dollars flow and the world feels calm. When they pull back, dollars get scarce and the dollar climbs. And this is the part everyone gets wrong. When foreign central banks sell US treasuries, the headlines scream that they are dumping America. They are not. They are using their reserves exactly as designed. When their markets are short of dollars, they sell treasuries to supply them. Sell treasuries, the dollar goes up. That is stress, not rejection. Which is why the dollar doom story keeps failing. They said QE would destroy the dollar after 2008. They said the deficits would collapse it. It never happened, because the problem was never too many dollars. It was not enough usable ones in the right places. So when someone tells you a strong dollar means America is strong, be careful. The strongest looking dollar is often the biggest warning sign. And a falling dollar is usually just the storm passing.

That’s why, if you look at their holdings of US Treasuries, they’ve actually gone down a bit over the years. If you look at all the new Treasuries we’ve issued over the years, the fact that the Chinese haven’t bought any of them is a big deal because they used to be a main buyer of these assets. Instead of buying more Treasuries, they’ve bought more gold. So if you look at US dollar debt as a percentage of all the reserves the Chinese own, Treasuries are a much smaller percentage of their total reserves than they once were, especially if you consider the appreciation of gold. I would guess the reason they’re not moving more dramatically is because they probably don’t want to cause a crash, the dollar to implode, the Treasury market to implode, because they are trying to sell and want to get a decent price. So I think they’re happy to slowly bleed it off to try to get that good price. They just have to worry about the impact on the dollar, because if they try to dump too many dollars at once, the dollar could go down, and especially if a lot of other countries see that and want to get out. There could be a run on the dollar. A Dollar shortage + oil shortage isn't supposed to be possible. The demand for oil is inversely correlated to the value of the Dollar. Under normal supply situations, the higher the Dollar the less oil nations can afford, which reduces demand. What's different this time is there's an engineered supply shock to global oil, but not in the U.S. As nations are starved of oil, their economies slow. Their ability to sell goods to the U.S. declines, which means they receive less Dollars that they need to service their debt. At the same time, the U.S. is still open for business, exporting oil for Dollars, which sucks Dollars back into the U.S. The more the U.S. exports, the less Dollars are in circulation for the rest of the world, raising the value of the Dollar when there's an oil shortage. Again, the Dollar & Oil going up at the same time isn't supposed to be possible, but that's exactly what's about to happen. This leads to a massive disruption in the global debt market, which tightens loan supply, reducing the ability to get Dollars, increasing the risk of defaults while forcing nations to sell their U.S. Dollar denominated assets below face value. e.g. U.S. treasuries

If you look at the company Tether they've bought more of the US debt than most countries. They have $160B worth of US debt. For each of those dollars they have a stablecoin. There's like 50 people in the company. They have $160B at 4% interest annually, they're making BANK just for holding this debt. I think that President Trump is very smart in seeing that we can flood the world with our stablecoin and we get a 2-for-1. We create a dollar of debt and we create another dollar that can be used all over the world as a reserve currency and that should result in some new monetary system that we need to come up with to have our dollar valued properly but also still remain the reserve currency and remain a strong export country. We don't make anything that we sell abroad, we can't all serve each other burgers and fries -- we have to build something. All of that went overseas. There's something big coming, and it has to happen. Trump is a meta guy. He's going to re-finance the country. It'll be digital and he Bitcoiners don't like this because they want Bitcoin to be the one currency that everyone uses but its now more like a digital gold that's much easier to move around. This house literally looks like a shack and the owners originally listed it for $19 million dollars, yes million, later on they dropped it to $18 mil, would you spend $18 mil for this? When you think of a $18 million dollar home for most people this isn’t what they envision. Even if it is in Aspen Colorado, are you dropping that kind of coin on this? When I visited California, in the San Francisco area I was greeted by these historic looking houses, did they blow me away? No not at all but they were nice, many of them weren’t too modern though but I guess some people would say it adds to the charm. These houses were being listed for millions of dollars and I get it, California property is considered prime real estate in many of their neighborhoods but for me it’s not justifiable. In my mind I know what the house has to look like and have for me to consider it and a house like that isn’t it. I’m looking for a forever home in a few years so I’m keeping my eyes open but for now it amazes me that people even consider dropping that kind of money for a home that’s not even worth a fraction of what they are asking for them. Back to this house in Aspen, what would you expect to realistically pay for something like this? I saw $150k tops, what’s your guess?

🚨💵Peter Schiff: Sanctions on Russia🇷🇺 marked the beginning of the end of the dollar as the world’s reserve currency “I was very critical at the time of the Biden sanctions against Russia, and I said that would come back to bite the US because I knew how critical the dollar’s reserve currency status was to propping up the US economy. I said that Biden just sent a very loud message, a warning to the world that they need to get rid of their dollars, that they could be the next Russia. If they do something that the United States doesn’t like, they’ve got that weapon. And so why would you want to enable the United States with a weapon to use against you? So I said this is going to result in a lot of selling of US dollars and US Treasuries. And that’s exactly what happened. The reason that gold is over $3300 an ounce is because central banks are getting rid of their dollars. And one of the reasons that the yield on US Treasuries just hit a new multi-year high and continues to rise is because we don’t have all the foreign buyers that Biden scared away. I think we’ve already established the precedent that the dollar is not sacrosanct. And if you’re a nation and you have US dollars, you have US Treasuries and you own them in good faith in that you would trust that they would be a reserve asset, a neutral reserve asset. We’ve already established a precedent that that’s not the case, that we can yank the rug out from under you whenever we want. So I think regardless of what Trump does now, if I was in China or any of these countries, especially China, because, you know, we vilify China, we say China’s our enemy. Okay, well, if China’s our enemy, why the hell do they want to leave themselves vulnerable by owning all of our bonds? And it’s not just Treasuries that they own. They own mortgage-backed securities. Yesterday I was accused of being a Chinese propagandist for 2 posts warning of the dangers of Trump’s illiterate foreign policy gross negligence. It is absolutely critical that Americans wake up to the real threat presented by his presidential incompetence. It is no different to his incompetent handling of the COVID crisis, which caused an estimated 200,000 unnecessary deaths in the U.S. The reality is, Trump is the price the rich have had to pay to have a useful idiot in the White House. But in my view, it is a potential huge miscalculation. China will soon become the biggest economy in the world that’s inevitable. Their rise to power is a result of a self inflicted wound delivered by western powers who sought to inflate their bottom line by shipping manufacturing to China. They assumed China was simply a pool of cheap labor in a country that was happy to be exploited. BIG MISTAKE. China played dumb for decades, all the while educating their population, building infrastructure and embracing technology. They were regarded by the world as imitators and China was happy with that label, all the while learning from their perceived slave owners. They played the west and achieved this by exploiting their arrogance and complacency. By the time the U.S. was awake to the monster THEY had created, it was too late. China now has a highly educated population, world class infrastructure, a decade ahead of the U.S. They no longer need to imitate because they are now innovators. Their global dominance of the EV market has left the U.S. standing. They are possibly the only country in the world that could be self sufficient TODAY. It is not good fortune that China has a $1 trillion global trade surplus. They own almost a trillion dollars of U.S. debt. That’s before we talk about real estate holdings and the fact that a Chinese AI startup that wiped almost a trillion dollars off tech stock values. It is slowly selling off US debt and reinvesting in Africa and the Belt and Road initiative. They are a big picture economy 6 moves ahead in the game of geopolitical chess. I suspect they are close to making a move on Taiwan and if that happens, military experts are of the growing opinion there would be nothing the U.S. military could do to stop them. If that happens, they will inherit a 68% global market share of the semiconductor industry. What do you think that will do for their advancement of AI technology? China is playing Trump like a fiddle just waiting to use the BRICS alliance to replace the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency to deliver the final killer blow.
