PRESS STATEMENT In the last 24 hours, social media has exploded over my interview with Mehdi Hassan, albeit with varied opinions. Let me set the record straight. When I signed on to the privileged job granted to me by Mr. President, I was well aware of its implications. Selling ice cream, looking fine, and seeking the praises of men were never part of it. Some of the fiercest critics of my interview can not even stand local TV anchors. But the task of promoting and defending the President and his administration is what I do with ease and joy. I am prepared to appear before any interviewer, anywhere in the world, any day and at any time, to defend this government and its policies. I have never, and will never, subscribe to ducking or dodging interviews on matters that concern promoting and defending the administration I was appointed to serve. It is the least of what is required of me. Head to Head contacted me requesting an interview, stating that they wanted to challenge our government on security, the economy, and corruption. Nowhere in our almost six months of communication did they mention that they were going to challenge my past. If that had been their plan, ethically and professionally, they were supposed to inform me so I could prepare my response. But that’s okay, ethically, that is on them, not on me. I refused to swallow the pill of Mehdi’s “opposition research-style journalism,” and even today, if you carefully compare what he read as quotes from organisations and groups, you will see that many were inaccurate and some were outright fake news. But I will leave that for another day. As for what I said about President Tinubu in the past, I am glad those were things I said when I was in the opposition saddle with such zeal. It is all politics. Half of Donald Trump’s cabinet is made up of people who once spoke against him, and quite a number of people in our own cabinet also spoke against President Tinubu in the past. Those things do not bother him if you care to know. The majority of the naysayers are members of the opposition and their sympathisers. It does not bother me one bit. Their temporary excitement over the interview has not lasted and will not last, because it does not take away their obvious problem of lack of vision, mission in conducting and managing a political party; yet they seek to manage Nigeria. Clearly they have no path to victory and no alternative policies or program for the Nigerian people. And if they say they do, they can as well go to head to head and be interrogated on that; as the saying in Hausa goes “Ga fili Ga doki” I conclude by thanking the many Nigerians and non-Nigerians who sent in their commendations over my brave defence of our government in an interview where the anchor would hardly let you answer a question unless it suited his narrative. I still have admiration and respect for Mehdi Hassan as arguably the best debater on the planet. I look forward to part two of the Head to Head interview, and I am glad that by then questions about my past will no longer be news so that we can focus on our administration’s policies, programs and what we have achieved so far. The following day, the officer told me the President wanted us to have a direct conversation. I refused to go to State House or Weston, so we met somewhere along State House Road. I recorded that conversation between the officer, William Ruto, and myself. The day I went to the Senate, that same officer was sent to me with another offer. That officer is an innocent man. Last year after I attended the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest, I granted an interview with #TV3GH that went viral. I used to work with the Ghana Maritime Authority. That viral interview cost me my job because party and government machinery put pressure on the Director General to sack me. I was coerced to resign solely because I attended a protest. I tended in my resignation on September 29, 2023. I got called by many friends, and media houses to call the government out for using their political power to take away my source of livelihood. My lawyer asked that we take it up legally, but I declined because I knew that a day like this will come. Power is temporary. It’s as volatile as flatulence. So when you have it, be careful how you use it because those who truly wield power can take it whenever they so desire. If I actively campaigned for Mahama, it’s not only because I believe in his ability to reset our country but I also know that under his leadership, voices of dissent will not be silenced and that our voices will not be dismissed. Intelligence agents showed up at my door late last year. I told them to leave. They proceeded to call me from anonymous numbers repeatedly. Contacted my gym. Told me they wouldn’t go away unless I “built a relationship with them” as an asset. “Your audience will never know” Returned to speak with me multiple times claiming they were giving me “last chances” before they threw me to the wolves. They told me that the courts wouldn’t care if I was actually guilty or not. That essentially someone had to take the fall and I could ensure it wasn’t me. It was repeatedly implied to me that: “You’re smart you know it’s not what’s true that matters it’s the perception” I was made to believe there was a potential arrest coming. Made to believe I could never travel to the US again without being arrested by the FBI. Made to believe I might not be around to see my child grow up. None of these things were true. I can enter the US without issue. I was never arrested. I did nothing wrong. I was psychologically manipulated for months in an attempt to turn me into a government asset. We have one party consent in Canada, and I believe it is in the public interest for people to understand how this works, as I know I’m not the only one. I have nothing against the agent. He was just given instructions and a job. But I have no doubt if his job were to destroy my life and try to jail me based on “perception” not “truth” he would do it. I’m just doing my job as well by publishing this. These are just a few excerpts cut from hours of conversations to give people an idea of our conversations:

I stood on the steps of the Supreme Court Monday . Donald Trump has done real things for MAHA. I believe that. But when the Department of Justice shows up to defend Bayer and Monsanto against the American people, against the health of our children, I have to say: you got this one wrong. Liability protection for corporations that poison people is not a conservative value. It is not a Republican value. It is not a Democratic value. It is not an American value. It is the opposite of a free market. It is the government putting its thumb on the scale for corporations that are losing in court because their products are causing cancer. Every child in this country deserves to be healthy. That is not a political statement. That is the only statement that matters. So in the words of the President himself: we are going to fight, fight.

Why anybody would expect somebody else to pay for them is beyond me. Even if it was a close friend, I would think about it. If it did not happen often and I didn’t think they were trying to finesse me then I would more than likely do it. It sounds like in this case, the friend does this often and doesn’t pay her back. I have a name for someone like this and it’s a moocher. We will all have a friend like this in our lives and I think there will come a time where we have to decide whether or not this is something we are willing to tolerate. I would never do this to anybody else. If I had dinner plans but not enough money, the solution would be very simple, I would apologize and then cancel. I would y tell them why because that doesn’t matter. What matters is that I don’t have enough and I am not going to put my problems on anybody else. Friend’s like that have a short timespan to actually be a friend. I feel that people who do this are taking advantage and they know exactly what they are doing.

Friend’s like that have a short timespan to actually be a friend. I feel that people who do this are taking advantage and they know exactly what they are doing.
