For over three and a half years, the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has warned that the Taliban and Al Qaeda strategically mask their global terror activities by attributing attacks to ISIS. With this approach, they claim they aren’t exporting terrorism from Afghanistan while maintaining plausible deniability. Ample evidence confirms this deception. In June 2024, terror cells of Tajikistani terrorists claiming to be ISIS were uncovered in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York. We know these terrorists received training in Afghanistan under the protection of the Taliban and crossed the southern border to enter the US. The video shared here proves this tactic. It features Tajikistani terrorists from Ansarullah, an Al Qaeda-linked group based in Afghanistan trying to overthrow Tajikistan’s republic with Taliban support. They are praising former Taliban terrorist leader Mullah Omar for defeating the US in Afghanistan and declaring their intention to “take Tajikistan just as we took Afghanistan.” Despite using an ISIS flag, their allegiance clearly lies with the Taliban and Al Qaeda. The international community, especially the United States, must recognize this deception. Taliban-occupied Afghanistan remains the epicenter of terrorism, where foreign terrorists are trained and given Afghanistan’s passports and attacks are planned. The fight against terror requires a unified, forceful stance against both ISIS and Taliban-Al Qaeda since both are two sides of the same coin.

We should never blame an entire religion for the actions of extremist groups. The holy book of Quran is very clear ‘Whoever kills an innocent person, it is as if he has killed all of humanity.’ (5:32) The threat we are facing is not Islam or Muslims. It is violent extremist groups that hijack religion to justify terror. These groups target civilians, women, minorities, and very often Muslims themselves. The Prophet Muhammad also forbade the killing of civilians. So these terrorists are not defending Islam. They are violating it. But we also cannot ignore the reality that this ideology spreads across borders and online and leads to real violence. So action matters. We need strong intelligence sharing, serious online counter radicalization, and firm law enforcement against extremist networks. We must hold state sponsors of terrorism accountable, secure our borders, and protect free speech so extremists can be exposed, not ignored. Protecting innocent lives while respecting religious freedom is not a contradiction. It is how free societies defeat violent extremism.

They repeat phrases like “help us against the kuffar” and “put terror in their hearts.” Yet this is being sold as a “security operation,” and Western legacy media is running with that framing. The New York Times, in reporting by Raja Abdul Rahim, frames it as clashes between the Syrian government and a Kurdish-led militia. The BBC does the same, presenting it as fighting between Syrian government forces and Kurdish fighters. Frankly, Al Jazeera’s coverage is less biased than most Western outlets. I never thought I’d say that. Al Jazeera at least calls this what it is: a siege. They identify who is attacking whom. They show maps. They report that the Syrian Ministry of Defense issued an ultimatum and then launched the attack. Even though they mostly interviewed people from the so-called Syrian transitional government side, they still framed the aggressor correctly. What no one is saying is that, until very recently, these same forces were on global terrorist lists because of their ties to al-Qaeda. No one mentions that this so-called Syrian transitional government is a direct outgrowth of jihadist groups. Al-Nusra did not just “overlap” with ISIS — it was an ISIS branch, and its leadership came straight from ISIS. Al-Jolani himself was a lieutenant of al-Baghdadi. That is who these people are. And this video shows it clearly: these forces are praying for Allah to put terror into the hearts of the kuffar. This is not a war against a militia that violated an agreement. It is a war against Kurds who chose secularism, coexistence with Druze, Alawites, and Yezidis, autonomy, feminism, and a progressive political project. For that choice, they are labeled kuffar even though the majority of Kurds are themselves Sunni Muslims.
