DON'T LET YOUR BITCOIN DIE WITH YOU 💀 ⚰️ Yea look, nobody likes to admit it but we all have to die one day. As I've been talking to people about their self custody lately - both Casa members and not - I hear the same thing over and over. "What happens if I die?" Many people feel pretty good about their bitcoin security for themselves. But their family members often have no idea how to use this stuff. Hardware wallet? Seed phrase stamped on metal? Shamir's secret sharing backups using SD cards, a passphrase, and a treasure hunt through the backyard with a shovel? 😵 We're solving that problem for all Casa members, starting today with Casa Inheritance. A key design principle we kept while building this was to make it as simple as possible for Recipients (your family members that will receive your bitcoin if you pass), while maintaining Casa-level security. An estate transfer is already a stressful time for family, and it can become even more stressful if you add in a crazy treasure hunt to access a fortune in bitcoin. For our basic 3 key vaults, we wanted it to be as easy as using the app. No metal plates, no need to use a hardware wallet, no magic passwords you have to keep track of or else risk messing up the asset transfer. Simplicity is security. So how does it work, in detail? A Vault Owner (Casa member) designates a Recipient (their family or friend) in the Casa app. The Recipient receives an invite to create a free Casa account. The Recipient scans a QR code provided by the Vault Owner, which contains an encrypted version of the owner's mobile key. This encrypted key is only able to be imported by the Recipient's Casa account, and the Recipient can't initially use it or see the vault balance. If the Vault Owner passes away, the Recipient can request access to the vault in their Casa app. This starts a 6 month timer, and sends a ton of notifications every month to the owner. If the owner is still alive, they can reject the request in app. If they are not, the timer will run out. When it does, the Recipient will be able to use the shared mobile key and the request a signature from the Casa Recovery Key for the shared vault. This gives them 2 out of 3 signatures, enough to access the assets. For 5 key vault users, one hardware key is shared with the Recipient. This small increase in friction for Recipients is often worth it for the increased security and resilience of a 5 key vault for larger holdings. To summarize now that you have the details: 1. Share keys and vault access during setup 2. 6 month timelock to ensure no malicious theft 3. Use shared keys and Casa key to access assets Full setup takes less than 5 minutes. Inheritance is one of the biggest problems in self custody today. If you've hodled through years of painful bear markets, you owe it to yourself and your family to not let the reward for that patience go to zero because you didn't have a plan - and we're here to make that easy. COLDCARD BTC MIGRATION VIDEO Here is an explainer video showing you how to do two things: 1. Set up a Casa multisig with your current Coldcard and send the assets from the Coldcard to the multisig. This eliminates the risk of loss from the CC vulnerability. Useful for people who only have a CC and don't want to send to an exchange or hot wallet. 2. Second part of the video (starting around minute 7) shows moving assets out of the Coldcard Mk3 single sig. This might be useful for anyone trying to move their assets right now that hasn't touched their CC in 4 years. Doing this was a fun reminder of how using a Coldcard outside of Casa is still surprisingly hard even though I know the gist of it and have been doing this for 8 years 😂. If you could only learn one thing that will be relevant for the next 10-20 years, focus on learning how to deal with data. The future is not about faster hardware, smarter algorithms, or better ideas. The future is about DATA, and those who know how to deal with it will stay relevant much longer than anyone else. I recorded a video to show you how easy it is to get started. In the video, I'm using Kestra. For a long time, I was a fan of AirFlow. Then, I moved to AWS Step Functions. Today, I only use Kestra. Kestra is open-source (repo link below) and kind enough to sponsor my work. The video will show you how easy it is to do the following: 1. Run Kestra locally (literally, one command) 2. Build a simple flow 3. Run Python scripts as part of your flow 4. Connect to HuggingFace models If you have never built a data pipeline, open Kestra's Quick Start Guide and follow their examples. (I think it will take you one weekend to feel comfortable with the application and build the courage you need to get into more serious work.)

Peter Thiel on $NVDA (about a year ago): It is probably quite tricky. If you had to concretize it, one thing that is very strange is if you just follow the money, at this point 80 to 85% of the money in AI is being made by one company, it is NVIDIA. It is all on this very weird hardware layer, which Silicon Valley does not even know very much about anymore. We do not really do hardware, we do not do silicon chips in Silicon Valley anymore. I get pitched on these companies once every three or four years, and it is always, I have no clue how to do this, it sounds like a pretty good idea, but man, I have no clue, and we never invest. There is this theory that the hardware piece makes the money initially, then gets more commodified over time, and it will shift to software. And the, I do not know, multi trillion dollar question is whether that is going to be true again this time, or whether NVIDIA will have this incredible monopoly. I suspect NVIDIA will. I think it will maintain its position for a while. I think the game theory on it is something like this. All the big tech companies are going to start trying to design their own AI chips so they do not have to pay the 10x markup to NVIDIA. How hard is it for them to do it? How long will it take? If they all do it, then the chips become a commodity and nobody makes money in chips. So do you go into hardware? You should do it if nobody else is doing it. If everybody does it, you should not do it. I am not sure how that nets out, but probably people stay stuck for a while and NVIDIA goes from strength to strength for a while.

That's a risky thing because you'll find a way to express that by investing and make some compromises on the team because you know this idea is just so good, its time has come. But if the team isn't there, 90% of the time it doesn't work. Then there's a whole thing can you swap out the team? But the whole Founders Fund thesis was always no, you need the founder to run the company. But on the company side, you have to be in love with the idea. It's not that rational to start a company. There's a lot easier, more comfortable ways to make money if that's the goal. So it's got to be about what the company is doing specifically. If you want to actually start a company, it better be something that you're really passionate about, or you think that the problem is really important."

Is that not the object of the game? It is not a woman's burden that you have chosen to medicalise yourself, and it is not up to them to act as your human shield. Just stop. I had to edit out the ending of this video because a minor was on camera, and I do not allow that. I said: "I appreciate that, but women shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable for you to feel comfortable.
