This was ruled a base hit by the Seattle Mariners Official Scorer. Keep in mind that there were 2 outs. I have no clue why the second baseman didn’t just flip it to first for the 3rd out but I do know that this is not a hit. BTW... show more

@Mariners Official scorers are useless nowadays. Everything is a hit. ⚾️

TODO SEA POR VERLO EN MONTERREY 🫡 A pesar de su rivalidad en la cancha, reportes indican que @TigresOficial habría ayudado a @Rayados a conseguir el fichaje de Sergio Ramos. Te contamos acá. 👇 #LigaMX #Tigres #Rayados #SergioRamos

@Mariners Well, that’s always been a hit so …

@Mariners The official scorer had no choice. It’s a hit per MLB scoring guide.

@Mariners It’s a mental error big time can’t charge him an error for a poor decision. Scorekeeper ruled it correctly.

@Mariners Most people in Detroit believe his best position is 1st base or DH. You would know more than me. It seems like he lost track of the fact there was 2 outs.

@Mariners 💯

@Mariners This is by definition an infield single. As bad as it is and looks there is no such thing as a mental error. The ball wasn’t thrown away or booted.

@Mariners You just wake up angry every day or something?

@Mariners It is not an error and not a hit either. It is a fielders choice and all runners were safe. There is no way that is a hit though when it was a routine play at 1st base.

@Mariners This has always been scored a hit. Was it a good play no, but it has always been scored a hit

@Mariners No play was made at either base, so it wasn’t a fielders choice. The defender also fielded the ball cleanly, so no error. If not a hit, what is it? Please explain. Because right now you sound like you don’t understand the nuanced rules of the game

@Mariners Someone check Keith's FanDuel account! ⚾

@Mariners It should have been a fielder's choice. That still wouldn't help Tarik's ERA.

@Mariners Impressive BA considering Fred Flinstone bats and lenient official scorers

@Mariners Sorry that’s an error

@Mariners Fielders Choice…..the fielder just made the wrong choice!

@Mariners I mean it's one day later and they are hitting for higher average than TEX, HOU, ATL, NYM, CIN, MIN. Meanwhile Arozarena, Raley, Raleigh, Garver, Bliss, JP, Tellez, and Solano all hitting .040-.145 below their expected batting average. It's been a week, brother.

@Mariners Easy Jeff my M’s need all the help they can get to raise those batting averages!!! lol!!!

@Mariners I mean it technically is a hit. Feels bad but it’s absolutely a hit.

@Mariners He was thinking about his launch angle swing instead of planning ahead for the next ball hit his way! ⚾

@Mariners It's tough being a loyal M's fan.

@Mariners Fielders choice. But he had a brain freeze.

@Mariners E4

@Mariners It's clearly a hit, if you know the rules of baseball.

@Mariners What would Seattle be hitting as a team if they didn’t get gifts like this from the official scorer? .140?

@Mariners It’s not an error, nor is it a fielders choice. So it’s absolutely considered a hit. What else would you say it is?

@Mariners Glad to see they make the same mistakes as I do in senior league Did the SS also tell him what a dumbass he was?

@Mariners Infield hit. He made a late throw to first, which takes away the fielder's choice.

@Mariners That’s a fielders choice

@Mariners Probably a FC, but giving it a hit isn’t terrible

@Mariners I’d guess he instincted second is a shorter thus safer force before realizing there wasn’t time? Sloppy research by me, but rule book says “instead of throwing to first…throws to another base.” dude threw to first, not another base.

@Mariners It’s obviously a hit. You can’t even call it a fielder’s choice.

@Mariners Jeff— can the scorer rule that a fielders choice?

@Mariners Question? How is it not a hit if there isn’t an actual error made? Mental error 1000%
