Do what I told you, if it's not too much trouble. Adjust the players' defense level, you can even add this to their customization, as some put more pressure on you when defending you, others not so much, depending on your defense level.

might have an obvious answer, but when my player goes to the league, am i able to upgrade his attributes further than the limit originally was in college? or am i gonna be stuck with the set in college?

Your potentials stay the same, but your attributes will decrease a bit to adjust to the pro level players.
