He’s sick of the zero-consequences culture where wasting billions of taxpayer dollars gets you a promotion or a pension. Elon’s solution? Simple really, if you waste public money, you're out. The truth that most people aren’t willing to swallow is that utility-scale battery storage is a massive waste of money in most cases. It’s better to invest in more baseload and dispatchable generation than battery storage, at least with current technology. There are innovations to be made and technological changes coming to make battery storage more economical and efficient, but we’re not there yet. Dr. Lars Schernikau
