This week, Pres. @RealDonaldTrump signed an EO to reclassify marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III. He says it "doesn't legalize marijuana" but allows the FDA to study potential medical benefits of cannabis. Good or bad idea?

@realDonaldTrump Marijuana is medicine ! The proof is below!

@realDonaldTrump It should never have been schedule one. Period. It should be fully legal. •

I am a person who suffers from a neuromuscular disease called Charcot Marie Toothe disease(CMT) and I have multiple Aries of spinal damage from gymnastics injuries and being hit by a drunk driver at 17yo). Over the past three decades, doctors have tried putting me on every single opioid pain medication there is including once giving me a fentanyl patch(which by the grace of God I had an allergic skin reaction to and could not use otherwise I probably would be dead right now or a full-blown fentanyl addict). The opioids would work for a short amount of time usually around a month and then they would stop working and the only way to get pain relief would be to take more and more, which is a vicious cycle that leads to death. The only answer I was ever given was increase the dosage so I would wean myself off and suffer. Finally approximately eight years ago I tried cannabis edibles.( 10CBD/5mg THC/ now I’ve added CBG) and it was literally life-changing for me! While I still experience pain and discomfort, the cannabis has made my pain bearable, and one of the biggest rewards is I can now sleep 4 to 5 hours without waking up in excruciating pain thanks to the cannabis. I have talked to countless soldiers who have virtually identical experiences, the VA would put them on as many opioids as they wanted, but would not allow them to try cannabis. The ones I’ve talked to said it is not only helped their pain but has also been miraculous for PTSD/anxiety. My wish is that people would stop judging based preconceptions that have been pushed on people over the years… stop and talk to people who actually benefit from these things and find out why. Just like anything, including food/sugar/caffeine… ABUSE is bad, normal use is not! Thank you, @drdrew for always being open minded. I have always felt that you truly care about the well-being of everyone, I appreciate that.

Best idea of 2025. We've known cannabis is medicine for millennia. Now, we can finally open up research on this miracle plant. Anyone opposing this research...has an agenda, or a benefactor. This isn't good news for BigAlcohol or BigPharma. That's the paid resistance you see online, on FoxNews.

@realDonaldTrump Great idea and anyone that says otherwise needs to research the benefits of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids specific to cannabis beyond THC. This deserves more research. Saying otherwise is falling prey to stereotypes, misinformation and biases.

@realDonaldTrump It helped me through knee pain and I was able to bike 1700 miles after doctors told me I would need new knees. On a keto diet cannabis works differently. Instead of making a person tired it energizes IMHO. If i eat carbs I want to sleep all day with or without cannabis.

@realDonaldTrump It’s a great idea. No one can claim it has no accepted medical uses without lying through their teeth.

@realDonaldTrump Not good for a thinking society. Just another way to anesthetize the 'masses', while America needs to think *more* in this day and age.

@realDonaldTrump Well, not good, in whole, but parts of the reclassification may be beneficial. Important to be able to investigate for beneficial effects. But on the whole, marijuana use for recreational purposes has many risks. Especially for young people with developing brains.

@realDonaldTrump Good idea but really it should be treated like alcohol, which is way worse, and anyone who says differently obviously has never tried it. Sorry but it’s the truth.

@realDonaldTrump I think we can all agree that Marijuana use has positives and negatives. But I would like to remind conservatives and Republicans that they are allegedly the party that likes smaller government.

@realDonaldTrump Should have completely descheduled it, but rescheduling is a step in the right direction. Unlocking true research into possible benefits is a good thing.

@realDonaldTrump Drew, I’m sure you have read “Tell your Children”. This is a bad idea.

@realDonaldTrump I would like to see more research happen; however, as a clinician working with college-aged adults for years, I’ve seen first-hand what marijuana does. It isn’t innocuous. Plus, after the fight over second-hand smoke - most non-users don’t want exposure to weed smoke.

@realDonaldTrump

@realDonaldTrump studying? i was against that in school and i'm still against it

@realDonaldTrump

@realDonaldTrump Great idea

@realDonaldTrump Medical marijuana has been a lifesaver for us. Husband Vietnam vet, rare leukemia and it helps with nausea, loss of appetite and pain

@realDonaldTrump Good. It does not meet the criteria of Schedule 1

@realDonaldTrump You were on the man show with bouncing titties You’re not a real doctor You’re a page shell regurgitating garbage

@cnnbrk @ABC The "there is not enough research" is a false statement. There are 40,000 + Cannabis documents in PUBMED. The fact is most show cannabis and is not safe and effective for the claimed medical benefits. Some examples: 1 of 3) Evidence is insufficient for the use of cannabis or cannabinoids for most medical indications. Clear guidance from clinicians is essential to support safe, evidence-based decision-making. Clinicians should weigh benefits against risks when engaging patients in informed discussions about cannabis or cannabinoid use. 2 of 3: Nonetheless, the investigators of this robust analysis should be commended as their findings highlight and add to the growing evidence that as with all psychotropic agents, adverse effects, particularly CV, can occur with cannabis, regardless of its name. 3 of 3: Conclusions: States with medical cannabis dispensaries and legalized recreational cannabis experienced higher rate of inpatient visits for asthma compared with states without these policies. Clinicians and policymakers should consider strategies to curb adverse health outcomes of cannabis, that is likely to result in increased costs of healthcare.

@realDonaldTrump Do you still prescribe opiates, doctor?

@realDonaldTrump Not to mention the fact that full bodily autonomy is a fundamental human right. No one has the authority to dictate to another person what they should or should not introduce into or remove from their own body.

@realDonaldTrump Great idea about time

@realDonaldTrump Great, great, great idea 🪴

@realDonaldTrump Good idea. Great idea actually. I give RSO, Rick Simpson oil to my mother he’s suffering with a brain injury. And it’s been life-changing for us. I’d love to show you her records, just to show you I’m telling the truth about her condition

@realDonaldTrump Great idea 🇺🇸the medical benefits are indisputable

@realDonaldTrump We don't need to study cannabis anymore. It's a miracle and has saved my life, and many others.

@realDonaldTrump Good idea. Would be good to find out what comes from the testing.

@realDonaldTrump Thanks President Trump

@realDonaldTrump How about just fix our food!

@realDonaldTrump Good idea. Current mj is different than then the official mj allowed for study. It also allows for official use for medical reasons

@realDonaldTrump An adult, I value cannabinoids. They reduce pain & improve my sleep (quantified by Garmin watch). I recall the 70s/80s. IMHO, the proper policy is "legalize, regulate, enforce, and tax" using alcohol policy as a model. Responsible adult consumers have been denied access too long.
