This will be one that will be debated for a while. Skylar Mays had opted to take the free throws, unbeknownst to him clearly, by how casual he is, that because he stepped in for D'Shawn Schwartz, who was supposed to take the shots, Phoenix were handed a 'disruptive... show more

I feel like it was perfect spot to use a warning, can’t have games decided like this, even though it was the right call technically

@AdamWesterhout The “disruptive foul” was the call that lead to the FTs. Part of the new unsportsmanlike foul rules being broken into disruptive or flagrant. The old “clear path” fouls would now be considered “disruptive”.

at the stadium, we assumed Mays had stepped up to the line because he thought an unsportsmanlike foul had been called.

Its not the nbl without American officials ruining the game. Bring in Aussie guys sick of this bullshit

Still confused on why the refs allowed Mays to shoot anyway. Especially in this situation

Correct call, not sure what is up for debate. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

One of the worst officated leagues in the world. Refs like to make it all about them.

Players are supposed to be pro athletes and should take the trouble to learn rule changes and listen to the calls. It's not Under 14s domestic. Disruptive foul called then wrong player stepped up to take free throws. Then loss of shots and possession for attempted cheating. #NBL

@AdamWesterhout What’s the debate? The wrong player took the free throws, it’s against the rules, so they lose the FT’s and possession. 🤷♂️ Pretty straight forward really. No debate required 😂

Punishment doesn't seem to fit the crime. The refs and scorebench could have corrected it and moved on.

Crazy, it should be tight game.

Unfortunate that SEM don't have a big fan base. I came here looking for salty tears.

All that's changed is USF has split into 2 categories, there should have been no confusion from SEM - other than a T, there's no other time the fouled player doesn't step up for FT - outside of injury or ejection

fixing match this

Facts!

So you’re saying if he had been trying to sneak in there to take the shots instead of Schwartz, the give away would have been that he would not have looked as “casual” as that?

Surely they knew what they were doing

It didn't look like the ref called D'Shawn and he refused to take the shot. How disruptive was it?

Why Mays went to the FT Line ?
