Sorry, nope! Arab Muslim slave trade lasted thirteen centuries—it never ended in the current century—they slaughter Christian Africans and enslave Christian women.

You don’t get to rewrite history. Slavery, colonization, stolen land, stolen artifacts and the system still stands. Black people had to fight for their humanity then, and still do now !

Sowell's point is historically accurate and often inconvenient for everyone. Slavery existed on every continent, was practiced by every major civilization, and was abolished largely through Western pressure. The full history doesn't fit neatly into any modern political narrative.

Exactly: Slavery wasn't invented by Europeans. It was everywhere — Africans selling Africans, Arabs castrating millions over 13 centuries, Whites enslaving Whites. The real anomaly? The West abolishing it while the rest of the world shrugged. But sure, let's pretend it was a unique White crime.

I’m not arguing slavery didn’t exist everywhere. I’m saying the version in the U.S. was racial, hereditary, and permanent in a way those other systems weren’t. That’s the part people keep skipping.

It is amazing to me how many people actually know the true history of slavery... it was practically ubiquitous.

“It’s one of many evils that the left tries to localize when it fact it is a universal evil.” That is so well put.

Slavery was not in Ancient India when the Country was ruled by Hindus . Slavery was brought in India by Islamists.

”The very word ”slave” is derived from the name of a European people— Slavs— who were enslaved for centuries before the first African was brought in bondage to the Western Hemisphere. It was not only in English that the word for slave derived from the word for Slav; the same was true in various other European languages and in Arabic.” - Thomas Sowell

Historians will cherry-pick the slavery that happened in the colonial United States, but ignores the 1,000+ years of slavery that happened before it, AND also the slavery that happened after it ended, which is still going on today, all to fuel their divisive anti-white narrative.

So no specific civilization should claim they single handedly abolished slavery, it was a universal collective effort .

Agreed. I think that white slavery actually far exceeded black slavery. And blacks in Africa were the ones who gathered up other blacks in Africa to sell to the original slave traders in the last few centuries.

The entire Hebrew nation were slaves in Egypt for nearly 475 years before Moses. That is not likely the first example.

Libya went from poverty to thriving economically until Obama did regime change. Now there are slave markets there. A lesson that violent regime changes don’t work. Thank God regime change didn’t happen in Iran.

It IS a universal evil. It has not gone away, unfortunately
