Popular Russian economist Nikolai Myachin says rumours that Wildberries could go bankrupt following the recent drone attacks on its warehouses are overblown. “Because of the summer attacks, Wildberries has lost one million square metres of warehouse space, or 20% of the total area of all its warehouses,” Myachin said. He estimates rebuilding them will cost between up to $970 million. “For you and me, that's an astronomical sum, but how big is it for Wildberries?” he asked, noting that the company entered 2026 with about $646 million in cash and made roughly $2.13 billion in net profit last year. The bigger problem, he insists, is that warehouses are the core infrastructure of a marketplace and founder Tatyana Kim spent around $3.78 billion in 2025 expanding capacity, while Wildberries planned to increase its warehouse space by another third this year, to 7 million square metres. “Instead of becoming 30% larger, its warehouse capacity has become 20% smaller,” Myachin said. Even so, he believes bankruptcy is effectively off the table. asWildberries remains Russia’s largest marketplace, sellers are not abandoning it en masse, and the company’s sheer economic importance makes a collapse highly unlikely. Its parent company alone paid around $500 million in taxes last year, before counting taxes paid by sellers and operators of collection points. “Wildberries is too big to fail,” he said. “Bankruptcy of Wildberries, even if half of all its warehouses were taken out, isn't an option. Iran takes control of seized smuggled fuel tanker worth over $5 million —— Iranian authorities have ordered the transfer of a recently seized oil tanker and its fuel cargo, valued at more than $5 million, into state ownership, according to the chief justice of Hormozgan Province.
