Those who understand will get this. Buying a car that doesn’t drive itself in 2026 honestly makes no sense. Sure, there are exceptions for niche cars, but for someone using a vehicle to get from point A to point B on a daily basis, driving manually doesn’t make any... show more

"but i love driving bro" *proceeds to hold steering wheel on a dull straight road*

Yeah, save the driving for actually fun roads. Besides that, it makes no sense imo.

The bigger shocker, and it's a huge one, is that only 16% of the people that have a Tesla Model Y or 3 have FSD turned on. That is crazy

People will only understand it once they've driven a Tesla with FSD engaged

It will be like trying to resell a car with a manual transmission , no AC, and no seatbelts.

As a car enthusiast I can confirm that your ego will continue to fight this fact, until you live with FSD for few days & realize how much it frees you up to do other things & not have stress

I am thinking exactly the same.

We desperately need autonomous cars. People don’t know how to drive. Was at a 4 way stop today, it was my turn to go but I noticed a car approaching from the left that wasn’t slowing down. I decided to wait and sure enough the person blasted through the intersection without stopping. If that person would have been in a Tesla with FSD engaged the car would have stopped. Luckily my four decades of driving experience made me wait. I know that if I would have been driving my Tesla with FSD it would have waited too. FSD is amazing.

And it saves lives. Fact.

Unless you bought HW3 on a promise from Elon, like me and many others. Can’t wait for the class action to resolve that one.

💯 so far version 14.3.3 is proving to be the smoothest and really is starting to feel like a human is driving. Better but not perfect. Does feel like I have my own personal chauffeur

Responding at 64mph in the middle of a 130 mile streak

I love Tesla and I’m on my second car. But posts like this are hot garbage. Not true at all, and I think trash posts like this give Tesla’s owners a bad rap. Dumb.

This will make them understand.

Tesla, but i will always have a Porsche too. IYKYK.

Im using it more and more. Fml

Exactly

commuting manually in 2026 gonna feel like using a flip phone

100%

Currently driving a 2012 Chevy Aveo I purchased for $3K. I pay $90 for my 6month insurance premium. I think some may say it doesn’t may sense to spend 10x that for an FSD capable vehicle along with higher insurance costs and a monthly subscription that would cost more than the value of my current vehicle in just two years. FSD seems wonderful, just doesn’t seem like I can justify the cost yet.

Your post implies Tesla is the only driver assist option. Several competitors are better depending on what you value: • GM Super Cruise: Better highway driving, smoother lane keeping, stronger safety monitoring. • Mercedes Drive Pilot: Better because it offers legal Level 3 eyes off driving in approved conditions. • Ford BlueCruise: Better highway predictability and less aggressive behavior. • BMW Highway Assistant: Better driver monitoring and highway comfort. • Hyundai/Kia HDA 2: More conservative and often more consistent in routine highway use. Tesla's advantage is broader coverage, especially on city streets. The advantage of many competitors is that they focus on doing fewer things, but doing them more predictably.

You do realize that this leads to the Fed telling you where you can and can’t go right?

I still think Tesla should add a heckle feature with Grok while parked.

Yes. We are at another "iPhone" society changing moment in history. It is obvious when you try it firsthand. Everything change from here on.

If you don't mind the unnecessary emergency braking every 20 minutes. I love my Model Y but I drive it because it's fun to drive, not because it can (nervously) drive itself.

It's a convenience feature that's supervised. Not everyone likes it or wants it. If you're too lazy to drive then yes a Tesla is for you

100% drove from SF to Healdsburg, SF to Idyllwild, no interventions what so ever and there were some edge cases where I wasn't sure if it'd make it and it did

Can’t convince me to drive myself anymore after using Tesla FSD. I haven’t driven since last year.

Lmao you’re nuts if you use this shit

Unfortunately, 90% don’t know or believe it. Of those that do, many still won’t trust it. In 5 and 10 years this will flip where only 10% don’t know, and everyone will trust it. The issue is the humans, not the tech.

💯- my grandchildren will never see PaPa Lee driving. And for them, this is normal. I still can’t believe it.

It truly does. People don’t realize how enjoyable it is to be driven, to enjoy the view, the surroundings, everything.

Don’t get ripped off and charged the Tesla tax when getting the charger installed. Built by a union electrician
