Professor Good Looks everyone! Nailed it again! A reassuring voice of calm and reason in this hectic space of "X", all for us to soothe our throbbing ganglions. You're absolutely correct: credentialism is bad form since credentials, no matter how impressive, don't automatically render one's conjectures true. Karl Popper would've had a field day with that...

A gay podcast host is catching heat for his morally questionable hookup app ploy.

@DouglasKMurray @ComicDaveSmith @joerogan What I heard from @DouglasKMurray was also "how can you speak of a place and purport to be an expert without ever having stepped foot there, talked to the people, seen the blockade.?" That's less credentials and more concrete. What do you think of that, Gad?

@DouglasKMurray @ComicDaveSmith @joerogan Gad at 4:01: “it’s much better to judge people based on the ideas that they espouse”. But Murray is judging Rogan & Smith on the people they choose to platform uncritically, based on the ideas they espouse. Aka: “you’re choosing dangerous idiots and not challenging them”.

@DouglasKMurray @ComicDaveSmith @joerogan Do you really think Murray was talking about credentialism... or was it expertise? He was miffed that armchair historians were consistently presenting a particular view and the other side was NOT getting presented.

Today’s “ludicrous idea” might be tomorrow’s truth. History shows that so-called facts aren’t always as solid as we think—authorities lie, studies get skewed by money, and even government leaders don’t always know what’s going on. It’s not new, and it’s not rare. That’s why questioning the “truth” isn’t just reasonable—it’s necessary. I’ve read Douglas Murray’s books and stand behind his ideas, in writing. His delivery, and perhaps opinion of himself, as illustrated on Joe Rogan, could stand some refinement. He seems to have an obsolete stance on information. Tabloids have been around for ages, but he’s (more?) bothered by rogue ideas gaining steam on the internet, as they might challenge his view and understanding. But, in Murray’s eyes, I’m a nobody so perhaps this isn’t even worth consideration.

Gad - you know well that this was not what Douglas said, and he even explicitly said that anyone can say anything. He referred specifically about 2 major subjects that have been "abused" by people who have proven themselves unknowledgeable - Israel and Churchill - and he said that a good idea is to counterbalance the bullshit with platforming the views of people who are knowledgeable, or at the very least on the other side of the post. Isn't it intellectually honest to present the full picture when you have a MASSIVE platform?
