You guys are missing the point. What Andrew is really saying is that you can’t have two people acting as “the boss” at the same time. For example, if your wife wants to live like Kim Kardashian—spending every dime and putting you deep in debt—but then expects you to fix the situation, that’s unfair. When he talks about “giving orders” like a captain on a ship, he doesn’t mean treating your wife like a servant. He’s pointing out that, in today’s world, men are still expected to handle everything, but at the same time, they aren’t “allowed” to set boundaries or give direction because she’s a woman. That creates a conflict. It’s hard to run anything with two CEOs. Just like in government where there’s a president and a vice president, you need one person to make the final call. Both partners can agree on who that is—it could be the man, it could be the woman—but the point is, one person has to lead in certain situations. And in this case, that’s what Andrew is talking about.

He is right, at the end of the day, men have the burden of performance.

If you’re a decent man and you have a decent woman, this conversation doesn’t even need to be brought up. Men don’t get to expect respect unless they earn it and show up emotionally too. Same goes for women. You’re not entitled to respect simply because you’re a man.

This is the same type of man that will beat the shit out of his woman or stripper or whatever…Red flag.
