Thread 🧵 Since they've been thrust into the spotlight lately, I've been getting a lot of people asking me "What's wrong with seed oils"? Let's begin with the disgusting way in which they are made: 1/10

Seed oils are cheap. They are subsidized by taxpayer money and one of the three main ingredients necessary to make most junk food. The other two are sugar and refined flour. These ingredients are ubiquitous in grocery stores and restaurants. 2/10

There is strong correlation between seed oil consumption and diabetes/obesity in America. I liken seed oils as the spark that set our health on fire. Sugar was the gasoline and refined carbohydrates were the wind that fueled our metabolic dysfunction epidemic. 3/10

Many animal studies implicate seed oil in negative health outcomes like lowering fertility rates and making strokes more likely. Animals are not people but once upon a time, we took canaries into mines to warn us of danger. 5/10

There are at least 3 major human studies that show frightening associations with seed oils and cancer, heart disease and mortality. The first is the 8 year RCT, LA Veteran's Study which showed eating seed oils was associated with doubling the chance to get cancer. 8/10

The 2nd was the Sydney Diet Heart Study and it showed that seed oil consumption was linked to a 62% increase in death rate. 9/10

The Minnesota Coronary Study was conducted on 9000 prisoners and showed that replacing saturated fat with seed oil did lower cholesterol but it shortened their lives! The latter fact was hidden in the initial study conclusion and wasn't discovered until decades later. It was one of the most delayed OBTWs in the history of science. 10/11

If you made it this far and still have any doubts about the insidious nature of seed oils, consider this. Two of the 3 studies I shared with you were buried for decades. Sometimes data gets omitted like morality data, (don't you think that's kind of important?) because as one lead investigator said: "we didn't get the results we wanted". If seed oils are so good for us, why all the deceit? Shouldn't science be as transparent as the oils we've been told to eat? 11/11
