Microplastics are in your blood, organs, and brain — and most water filters can't catch them. A 2024 study found okra's natural mucilage removes up to 93% of microplastics in contaminated water. Still drinking water from plastic bottles? A recent study found that microplastics exposure increases the risks of having a heart attack. (PMID: 38446676) Drinking water from plastic bottles is the biggest source of microplastics. Get plastic out of your life and your health will improve significantly!

Big News ‼️ The Trump administration says it will decrease the levels of micro plastics in medicines and drinking water New research shows microplastics in the brain could be causing dementia A team “looked at brain tissue from cadavers and found that the average brain could contain up to 7 grams of microplastics. That's roughly equal to the weight of a plastic spoon, just in the brain” “Research has shown nanoplastics can cross the blood-brain barrier, and one of the startling discoveries from this study showed that in the brains of those who had dementia, there were significantly higher levels of microplastics” “In those dementia cases, there was 5-8x more plastic in those individuals” “In a separate study, researchers found microplastics in placentas, suggesting pre-birth exposure coming from the mother's bloodstream through the placenta in utero. And they found that babies born preterm who face higher rates of complications had a higher concentration of microplastics in their blood” I found 10 common things you can get microplastics from in America Bottled water Tap water Seafood Table salt Beer Tea bags Synthetic clothing Cosmetics Air dust Food packaging Microplastics pollute water, fish eat the feeders who eat the microplastics and that’s why seafood is a source of microplastics We have to stop the plastic pollution

Microplastics have been found in 100% of sperm samples tested. Studies show microplastics are linked to abnormal sperm shape and impaired motility, which means sperm can’t move as efficiently—bad news for fertility. 31% of the microplastics found in sperm come from polystyrene, a plastic commonly used in food packaging. Even worse, polyvinyl chloride (PVC)—used in water pipes—breaks down and leaches microplastics into tap water, a major source of exposure. Microplastics often contain BPA, a known endocrine disruptor that mimics estrogen. Research shows that men with higher BPA levels have significantly lower testosterone and reduced sperm quality. Reducing exposure is key: avoid heating plastics, use stainless steel or glass for drinking, and filter tap water with systems like reverse osmosis that remove microplastics. The goal is not panic—but informed action. To learn more about how microplastics impact reproductive health, the brain, the cardiovascular system, and hormones, check out episode 95 of the FoundMyFitness Podcast. Show notes:

How do microplastics invade us? • Ingestion: Up to 5g of plastic WEEKLY from food and water (exact amount still being studied). • Inhalation: we breathe up to 22 million particles/year. • Skin contact: Direct contact with microplastics leads to exposure. And the bad news?

Bryan Johnson reveals how he reduced microplastics in his body by 87% “Cups you use for hot coffee leach microplastics. The heat causes the leaching of microplastics, so when you're drinking that coffee you are consuming microplastics. So we removed that and a bunch of other stuff like plastic cups, cutting boards, and other plastics from the house, and we dropped my microplastics burden in my body by 87%” “Dry sauna was potentially the cause of reducing microplastics in the body overall”

Q: "Could you expand on the agency's efforts to further address microplastics and PFAS contaminants in our food and water?" Kennedy: We're putting $140 million into the STOMP program. The average American now has a teaspoon of microplastics in his brain.

🥬 The bacteria in kimchi might be quietly pulling microplastics out of your body. Scientists found a probiotic strain that physically grabs onto plastic particles in your gut and carries them out as waste. 🔬 In mice, it more than doubled the nanoplastics excreted. ✨ #omgfacts #Kimchi #Science #Health

🚨 BREAKING: Health Sec. RFK Jr. just announced the Systematic Targeting of MICROPLASTICS nationwide — a program to surge the ability to REMOVE microplastics from the human body HUGE! RFK JR: "We can't treat what we cannot measure. We cannot regulate what we don't understand. So today, HHS, alongside EPA, is taking direct action." "We are launching STOMP, which stands for Systematic Targeting of MicroPlastics. It's a $144 million national program to measure, understand, and to remove microplastics from the human body." "We are focusing on three questions. What is in the body, what's causing the harm, and how do we prove it? And we're answering them everywhere." Rapid Response 47
