Otterly adorable news! Pintar, our four-year-old Asian small-clawed otter, gave birth to a healthy pup on November 18. Pintar and Sebastian are first-time parents and are doing exceptionally well, keeping the fuzzy male pup safe and cozy behind the scenes. Head Veterinarian Dr. Karen Wolf performed a wellness exam on the one-month-old pup, and it appears healthy, weighing just under one pound and exhibiting strong vigor, with a round, healthy belly. We believe the pup is male. His eyes are still closed, which is normal at this stage, and should fully open around day 45. For now, Sebastian, Pintar, and their pup will remain behind the scenes until the pup is older, more mobile, and the weather improves. Stay tuned to our social channels for more behind-the-scenes pupdates!

Bumpy hasn't been in our care long, but he has already bonded quickly with his Keepers, Festus and Jackson. He peeks above the water to watch their comings and goings and loves to nestle between their feet. A forehead scratch is always well received too, thank you very much. In time, as with all the orphaned animals in our care, this dependence on his human caregivers for comfort will lessen. For now, while he's only just a month old, its vital to his progress. We’re excited to announce the birth of a new male lion cub at Zoo Knoxville! 🦁 Born on February 17th to first-time mom Zahra (ZARA) and dad Maji (MAW-GEE), this little guy represents an important step in supporting the genetic diversity of lions in human care and the survival of his species. Zoo staff monitored new mom Zahra around the clock after she gave birth. After about two weeks, they noticed she was having trouble producing enough milk and that the cub wasn’t getting the nourishment he needed. Our team stepped in, and thanks to the dedication of our veterinary and keeper staff, he is now thriving under human care and growing stronger every day. For now, he’s in our vet clinic receiving expert attention—growing, gaining strength, and even finding his little "roar". We’ll continue to share updates as he grows and will let guests know when he’s ready to make his debut to the public. After 10 years of traveling the country with my son Grant Scholzen as my travel partner as an MLB scout and in my baseball capacity now, I was let go 3.5 years ago by the Milwaukee Brewers for CoVid reasons and it has become a blessing in disguise! It freed me up to watch every HS game he played and almost 90% of his summer/fall action from coast to coast, along with national invite showcase teams and events, where he garnered recruiting attention. Now the day came to watch him make his D1 debut this past week. He was able to play 3 innings defensively and as is custom, the ball found him at 2B in all 3 innings. Made all the plays flawlessly, with a “slow” heartbeat and did his thing! The AB’s will come… He’s a great teammate and has his fellow players respect for who he is as a ballplayer and more importantly as a person! His step mother Cami, for the past 8 years also hauled him around when he was young, while Dad was making other players dreams come true and she was able to see the dream realized as well. No matter what the future holds, his passion and endless work ethic made his dream come true! He will continue to grind, work and prove people wrong! His late mother Heidi, who passed away when he was 9 years old, would have been so proud and I know she’s been by his side in spirit and will continue to be by his side, wherever the dream takes him. Only 2% make it to where he’s at, and although I help other young men, in the end he’s my 🔝 priority and the most important player in my portfolio! I love you Grant ❤️

This is my son Adam. He is 3 years old — his entire life has been during the Gaza war. In this video, I’m playing with him and singing together. These small moments make me happy… because at least I can make him smile. He has never known safety. He has never known a real home. He has never known toys like other children. He grew up under the sound of shelling and fear, and we will never forget the days of famine when he slept hungry. I always try to make him laugh… because his childhood has already carried too much pain. 💔
